Background: Yinzhihuang (YZH) oral liquid is a traditional Chinese medicine compound that has emerged as a promising therapeutic agent for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Here, we aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of YZH on non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and elucidate its underlying molecular mechanisms.

Methods: Mice fed on a high-fat diet plus fructose/glucose drinking water (HFGD) were treated with YZH (30 mL/kg/d). The effects of YZH on mice with NASH were assessed through serological analysis and histological examination. Microbiota analysis based on 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid (16S rRNA) and intestinal mucosal barrier function, serum inflammatory factors, hepatic macrophage infiltration, as well as hepatic toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), myeloid differentiation primary response 88 (MyD88), nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB) pathway were carried out to explore the mechanism of YZH for treatment of NASH.

Results: Results of the current study found that YZH effectively reduced body weight gain and adiposity and alleviated hepatocyte steatosis, hepatocyte ballooning, liver tissue lobular inflammation, as well as fibrosis. It also reduced the accumulation of triglycerides, cholesterol, and free fatty acids in the liver of the treated mice and normalized serum aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase, and glucose levels as well as lipid metabolism. Meanwhile, YZH treatment significantly decreased the abundance of harmful bacteria, such as , and . Mechanistically, the present study found that YZH upregulated the expression of tight junction proteins, decreased serum lipopolysaccharide, interleukin 6, and tumor necrosis factor α levels, and increased interleukin 10 levels in serum. In the liver, YZH alleviated macrophage infiltration, especially that of pro-inflammatory macrophages. Moreover, it was found that YZH inhibited the canonical TLR4, MyD88, NFκB signaling pathway.

Conclusions: In conclusion, YZH may be a new agent for the prevention of NASH. Further, YZH alleviates gut microbiota dysbiosis, restores the intestinal mucosal barrier, and inhibits the canonical TLR4, MyD88, NFκB signaling pathway.

Planting structure adjustment (PSA) affects agricultural water saving, and is an essential part of water-saving agricultural construction. This study introduced virtual water theory and innovatively constructed a model to assess the water-saving effects of PSA in Shiyang River Basin over the past 38 years, explore the relationship between planting structure and water saving, and clarify the most water-saving planting structure. The results showed that the sown area of economic crops consistently increased as food crop areas decreased in the four counties (districts) from 1980 to 2017.

Based on the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers developed by whole genome resequencing (WGRS), the relationship and population genetic structure of 53 common apricot () varieties were analyzed to provide a theoretical basis for revealing the phylogenetic relationship and classification of the common apricot. WGRS was performed on 53 common apricot varieties, and high-quality SNP sites were obtained after alignment with the "" apricot genome as a reference. Phylogenetic analysis, G matrix analysis, principal component analysis, and population structure analysis were performed using Genome-wide Complex Trait Analysis (GCTA), FastTree, Admixture, and other software.

Background: Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia (NH) is a common phenomenon for neonate inpatients, and Yinzhihuang (YZH) injection is a well-known Chinese herbal formula for the treatment of NH. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of YZH injection on NH.

Methods: A comprehensive literature search was performed in four Chinese databases [China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Biomedical Literature (CBM), China Science Journal Database (VIP), and Wan Fang ] and four English language databases (PubMed, Web of Science, EMbase and the Cochrane Library) from inception to 16 April 2024.

The development of a photoelectrode featuring both excellent reusability and a simple preparation process remains exceptionally challenging for TiO-based photoelectrocatalytic technology. Herein, a three-dimensional photoelectrode with N doping, oxygen vacancies (O), and carbon layers (NTC) was prepared via the "carbothermal reduction-pressing-calcination" method. The photoelectrode degraded 97.

Vertical mass exchange in wetland flows with shear layers.

J Environ Manage

State Key Laboratory of Water Resources Engineering and Management, Wuhan University, Wuhan, Hubei, 430072, China.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study explores how vertical mass exchange and turbulent vortex interactions affect solute distribution and the purification efficiency of wetlands dealing with nutrient-rich (eutrophic) waters.
  • - Key findings indicate that vegetation density and height slow down solute diffusion, while there's a critical threshold for bed absorption that influences near-bed concentration.
  • - It is essential to understand the dual effects of submerged vegetation, as they enhance vertical mass exchange but hinder solute absorption, which informs better management practices for wetland ecosystems.
