Background: Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is a frequent complication of herpes zoster (HZ). Treatment of this chronic pain syndrome and results are often not clear. Tricyclic antidepressants, gabapentinoids and potent opioids are first-line treatments and are highly effective, but their use is limited due to adverse effects that may occur in elderly patients with significant medical comorbidities or interaction due to multiple drug use. There are no head-to-head comparisons of non medical treatments. Dry needling appears comparable to conventional physical therapy for treating PHN.
Objective: Our aim is to determine the incidence of PHN in our population and to compare the treatments in patients with postherpetic neuralgia.
Methods: A search for HZ and PHN was conducted in a general practice research database, comprising 2 general practices (dermatologist and physiatrist) and representing 5600 people. We analyzed a retrospective 37 case with PNH of 170 herpes zoster patient admmited to the dermatology and physical therapy and rehabilitation outpatient clinic between October 2018 and October 2020. Dry needling and physical therapy methods applied in addition to medical treatment in PHN treatment were compared.
Results: In patients with postherpetic neuralgia, both dry needling therapy group and physical therapy group LANSS scores decreased significantly in the first week and in the third week compared to baseline. Dry needling therapy group has also similar results in VAS scores in the first and third week. But in physical therapy group, the VAS score did not show a significant decrease in the first week compared to the baseline, but it decreased significantly in the third week.
Conclusion: PHN is a complex, difficult to treat and severe neuropathic pain that affects patients' daily function and quality of life. Various agents and methods are available to relieve the symptoms of PHN. This study shows as both physical therapy and dry needling therapy are effective treatment for postherpetic nevralgia..

Objectives: Past studies have shown the efficacy of spinal targeted drug delivery (TDD) in pain relief, reduction in opioid use, and cost-effectiveness in long-term management of complex chronic pain. We conducted a survey to determine treatment variables associated with patient satisfaction.
Materials And Methods: Patients in a single pain clinic who were implanted with Medtronic pain pumps to relieve intractable pain were identified from our electronic health record.

Background: The aims of this cohort study were to identify (1) the incidence and risk factors for axillary web syndrome (AWS) with shoulder movement limitation within 4 weeks after axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) for Asian women with breast cancer (BC), and (2) whether early intervention with physical therapy (PT) could improve AWS, and how many PT sessions would be needed.
Methods: A cohort study of patients with BC receiving ALND was performed at Changhua Christian Hospital, Taiwan, between January 2019 and December 2020. Those patients who were diagnosed with AWS with shoulder movement limitation were referred to receive PT twice weekly at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Purpose: As the global population of older adults rises, the United Nations Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021-2030) advocates for disease prevention, management, and enhancing overall wellbeing in older adults. We reviewed the MEDLINE literature under the MeSH term "music therapy" (MT), for its role in promoting healthy ageing.
Methods: A systematic search of the MEDLINE biomedical database (Ovid) was conducted using "MT" and "Ageing" as keywords, retrieving relevant full-text studies in English.
Introduction: Patients with end-stage renal disease usually undergo hemodialysis as a way of renal function replacement therapy which comes with a wide array of systemic and cutaneous complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the most frequent dermatological manifestations including xerosis, pruritis and other nail, hair and oral conditions, as these are a very important aspect to be considered while managing the patients psychological and physical needs to improve their outcomes and quality of life.
Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study was performed by selecting 77 patients on hemodialysis based on a certain criteria and data was then collected on a sheet using patients database on Hakeem National E-Health Program, in addition to information from interviews with patients during their hemodialysis sessions after taking an oral informed consent and insuring patients' privacy.

Background: Menisci, one of the most important anatomical structures of the knee joint, plays a role in load transfer, stability, shock absorption, prevention of articular cartilage degeneration, and proprioception. Type I collagen, the main component of the meniscus, and type II collagen fibers play an important role in the stability of the knee joint. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Naturagen® 4 Joint product containing type I, II, and III collagen on pain, quality of life, and physical functions in patients with meniscopathy.
