Introduction: Both cellular and humoral responses are important for vaccine protection, but recommendations on immunosuppressants in dermatology are largely based on pre-pandemic experiences. This study aimed to investigate the impacts of immunosuppressants on humoral and cellular immunogenicity to COVID-19 vaccinations in pemphigus patients.
Methods: SARS-CoV-2-naïve pemphigus patients and age-, and sex-matched healthy controls were recruited from multiple tertiary medical centers during 2021-2023.

Minocycline-induced pigmentation is a rare dermatological condition that primarily affects the skin and thyroid gland, oral mucosa, nails, teeth, bones, and sclera leading to grayish-blue pigmentation in these areas. Early identification, discontinuation of the drug, and laser treatment are crucial in managing this condition. We reported a case involving a 72-year-old Chinese woman who developed diffuse blue-brown pigmentation after 1 year of minocycline treatment for pemphigus vulgaris.

Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is an autoimmune skin disorder characterized by the loss of cell cohesion, with the histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) and lysine demethylase 1A (KDM1A) playing critical roles in its pathogenesis. This study aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms behind PV, focusing on the function of HDAC1 and KDM1A in disease onset and progression. Based on in vitro and in vivo PV models, we observed a significant increase in HDAC1 mRNA and protein levels in skin tissues of PV patients.

The neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) is important for numerous cellular processes that involve antibody recycling and trafficking. A major function of FcRn is IgG recycling and half-life prolongation, and FcRn blockade results in a reduction of autoantibodies in IgG-mediated autoimmune diseases. In epithelial cells, FcRn functions in processes different from IgG recycling, such as antibody transcytosis in intestinal cells.

Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is a blistering autoimmune disease that affects the skin and mucous membranes. The precise mechanisms by which PV antibodies induce a complete loss of cohesion of keratinocytes are not fully understood. But it is accepted that the process starts with antibody binding to desmosomal targets which leads to its disassembly and subsequent structural changes to cell-cell adhesions.
