This work was to explore the changes of T lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood of patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (AECOPD) and the role of cellular immunity mediated in the disease process. Eighty-six patients with AECOPD who visited Qingdao Hiser Medical Center from June 2020 to December 2021 and 30 healthy people (controls) who underwent health examination in the same period were selected. The differences of pulmonary function (PF), arterial blood gas (ABG), blood routine inflammatory indexes, T lymphocyte and T lymphocyte subsets were compared between the two groups, and the correlation between T lymphocyte subsets and each index was analyzed. There were clear differences in PF, ABG, and PB inflammation indexes between AECOPD patients and the controls (0.05). Compared with the controls, the CD and CD /CD ratio in PB of AECOPD group were obviously decreased, and the CD level was clearly increased (0.05); Th1 of CD cell subsets and Tc1 of CD cell subsets were significantly increased, while Th2 of CD cell subsets and Tc2 of CD cell subsets were obviously decreased (0.05). However, CD4 was significantly positively correlated with lung function indexes, and significantly negatively correlated with neutrophils/lymphocytes and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein ( <0.05) and significantly positively correlated with Hs-CRP (0.05). In summary, CD4+ and CD8 T lymphocytes were involved in the occurrence and occurrence of AECOPD, the decrease of CD4 and the increase of CD8 may promote the deterioration of COPD.

Elevated blood levels of estrogens are associated with poor prognosis in estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancers, but the relationship between circulating blood hormone levels and intracellular hormone concentrations are not well characterized. We observed that MCF-7 cells treated acutely with 17β-estradiol (E2) retain a substantial amount of the hormone even upon removal of the hormone from the culture medium. Moreover, global patterns of E2-dependent gene expression are sustained for hours after acute E2 treatment and hormone removal.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-associated cancer, and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have shown efficacy in its treatment. The combination of chemotherapy and ICIs represents a new trend in the standard care for metastatic NPC. In this study, we aim to clarify the immune cell profile and related prognostic factors in the ICI-based treatment of metastatic NPC.

Background: Circulating rare cells participate in breast cancer evolution as systemic components of the disease and thus, are a source of theranostic information. Exploration of cancer-associated rare cells is in its infancy.
Objectives: We aimed to investigate and classify abnormalities in the circulating rare cell population among early-stage breast cancer patients using fluorescence marker identification and cytomorphology.

Aims: Diabetes mellitus (DM) induces increased inflammation of atherosclerotic plaques, resulting in elevated plaque instability. Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy was shown to decrease plaque size and increase stability in non-DM animal models. We now studied the effect of MSC therapy in a streptozotocin-induced hyperglycaemia mouse model using a clinically relevant dose of adipose tissue-derived MSCs (ASCs).

While most tumors maintain telomeres through the action of telomerase, a subset of tumors utilize a DNA-templated process termed Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres or ALT. ALT is associated with mutations in the ATRX/DAXX/H3.
