Tightly bound electron-hole pairs (excitons) hosted in atomically-thin semiconductors have emerged as prospective elements in optoelectronic devices for ultrafast and secured information transfer. The controlled exciton transport in such excitonic devices requires manipulating potential energy gradient of charge-neutral excitons, while electrical gating or nanoscale straining have shown limited efficiency of exciton transport at room temperature. Here, we report strain gradient induced exciton transport in monolayer tungsten diselenide (WSe) across microns at room temperature via steady-state pump-probe measurement.

Robust ferromagnetism in wafer-scale FeGaTe above room-temperature.

Nat Commun

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, 510275, China.

The discovery of ferromagnetism in van der Waals (vdW) materials has enriched the understanding of two-dimensional (2D) magnetic orders and opened new avenues for fundamental physics research and next generation spintronics. However, achieving ferromagnetic order at room temperature, along with strong perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, remains a significant challenge. In this work, we report wafer-scale growth of vdW ferromagnet FeGaTe using molecular beam epitaxy.

Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy has emerged as a potent tool for probing chiral small-molecule ligand exchange on natively achiral quantum dots (QDs). In this study, we report a novel approach to identifying QD-biomolecule interactions by inducing chirality in CdS QDs using thermoresponsive elastin-like polypeptides (ELPs) engineered with C-terminal cysteine residues. Our method is based on a versatile two-step ligand exchange process starting from monodisperse oleate-capped QDs in nonpolar media and proceeding through an easily accessed achiral glycine-capped QD intermediate.

We report a 75-year-old female with a history of two heart operations: aortic valve replacement (St. Jude Medical 21 mm) at the age of 44 years for severe rheumatic aortic stenosis and mitral valve replacement (Carbomedics 29 mm) at the age of 51 years for rheumatic mitral regurgitation. Decades later, she presented with exertional dyspnea.

We developed a versatile 'IHC/LCM-Seq' method for spatial transcriptomics of immunohistochemically detected neurons collected with laser-capture microdissection (LCM). IHC/LCM-Seq uses aluminon and polyvinyl sulfonic acid for inventive RNA-preserving strategies to maintain RNA integrity in free-floating sections of 4% formaldehyde-fixed brains. To validate IHC/LCM-Seq, we first immunostained and harvested striatal cholinergic interneurons with LCM.
