Purpose: The diameters of the abdominal aorta and its branches are affected by demographic properties of patients like age, sex or body mass index. Some researchers use the body of the first lumbar vertebra (L1) as an anatomical indicator to create an exact standard for diagnosing arterial aneurysms or stenoses. In this regard, this work designed to uncover relations of abdominal visceral arteries with L1 in normal children using their abdominopelvic computed tomography images.

Electrically conducting 2D metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with hexagonal 2D lattices like other 2D van der Waals stacked materials are attracting increasing interest. The conductivity can be effectively regulated through electronic structure adjustment thanks to the chemical and physical flexibility and adjustability of MOFs. In this regard, through a simple and rapid electrochemical method, 2D conductive iron-quinoid MOFs were synthesized.

Background: Among the Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers measured in blood, phosphorylated forms of tau (p-tau) have been shown to exhibit a particularly high diagnostic potential. Here, we performed a comprehensive method comparison study, followed by evaluation of the diagnostic performance of eight recent plasma p-tau immunoassays targeting different tau phosphorylation sites, different tau fragments, and that are measured by two distinct platforms.
Methods: We enrolled a cohort of 40 patients with AD at the stage of dementia (AD-dem) characterized by positive CSF A + T + profile, and a control group of 40 cognitively healthy participants (Control), to conduct a comprehensive method comparison for three plasma p-tau181 and five plasma p-tau217 assays run on the Simoa HD-X™ or Lumipulse G600II/G1200 platforms.

Background: Medical students and doctors are rarely taught how to be educators, but are expected to perform the role of clinical teacher once qualified (Kloek AT, Van Zijl ACM, ten Cate OTJ, Perspect Med Educ. 5:325-331, 2016). Qureshi (Perspect Med Edu 3:69-72, 2014) suggests that development of teaching skills should be incorporated into the undergraduate medical curriculum, while Charnell et al.
