Nucleosomes are complexes of DNA and histone proteins that form the basis of eukaryotic chromatin. Eukaryotic histones are descended from Archaean homologs; however, how this occurred remains unclear. Our previous genetic analysis on the budding yeast nucleosome identified 26 histone residues conserved between S.

We experimentally investigated the asymmetric dual-grating-gate plasmonic terahertz (THz) detector based on an InGaAs-channel high-electron-mobility transistor (HEMT) in the gate-readout configuration. Throughout the THz pulse detection measurement on the fabricated device, we discovered a new detection mechanism called the "3D rectification effect" at the positive gate bias application, which is a cooperative effect of the plasmonic nonlinearities in the channel with the diode nonlinearity in the heterobarrier between the InGaAs channel layer and the InAlAs spacer/carrier-supply/barrier layers, resulting in a giant enhancement of the detector responsivity. We also found that an undesired long-tail waveform observed on the temporal pulse photoresponse of the device is due to trapping of carriers to the donor levels in the silicon -doped carrier-supply layer when they tunnel through the barrier to the gate and can be eliminated completely by introducing the so-called inverted-HEMT structure.

The histone-lysine N-methyltransferase 2D (KMT2D), tumor suppressor gene which is the major component of histone H3K4 mono-methyltransferase in mammals and has significant role in regulation of a gene which are frequently mutated that lead to many different types of cancers that include non-Hodgkin lymphoma, medulloblastoma, prostate carcinoma, renal carcinoma, bladder carcinoma and lung carcinoma. KMT2D gene epigenetic alterations in histone methylation play a significant role for the initiation and progression of cancers from pre-cancerous lesions, yet its complete function in oncogenesis remains unsolved. KMT2D deficiency - loss are thought of initial mediators of cancer development and cell migration such as B-cell lymphoma, medulloblastoma, melanoma, pancreas and lung cancer.

The organization of DNA into nucleosomes is a ubiquitous and ancestral feature that was once thought to be exclusive to the eukaryotic domain of life. Intriguingly, several representatives of the Nucleocytoplasmic Large DNA Viruses (NCLDV) encode histone-like proteins that in Melbournevirus were shown to form nucleosome-like particles. Medusavirus medusae (MM), a distantly related giant virus, encodes all four core histone proteins and, unique amongst most giant viruses, a putative acidic protein with two domains resembling eukaryotic linker histone H1.

The introduction of alien species poses a serious threat to native biodiversity, and mountain lake systems in the southwest of China are particularly vulnerable to the introduction of non-native fish. The prey naivety hypothesis states that native species may not be able to recognize novel introduced species due to a lack of common evolutionary background and therefore become easy targets, so the impacts of non-native fish on mountain endemic amphibians need to be urgently assessed. In an ex-situ experiment, we exposed the tadpoles of the Chaochiao Brown Frog (), endemic to western China, to kairomones of both native and translocated fish species, and their phenotypic and genetic response patterns were compared.
