[group B (GBS)] is a major neonatal pathogen and also causes invasive disease in non-pregnant adults. One hundred GBS isolates ( = 50 invasive disease and = 50 colonizing pregnant women) were characterized using capsular serotyping by latex agglutination, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and whole genome sequencing (WGS). All isolates were susceptible to penicillin, 32% were resistant to clindamycin. Of these, two isolates had reduced susceptibility to ceftriaxone (MIC 0.75 mg/L) and were found to have unique alleles at and . Capsular serotypes Ia (18%), III (18%), Ib (14%), V (12%), and VI (11%) were most common and comparison of latex agglutination and capsular genotyping by WGS showed 71% agreement. Less common capsular genotypes VI-VIII represented 15% of isolates, indicating that a significant proportion may not be targeted by the proposed pentavalent or hexavalent vaccines under development. WGS is a useful aid in GBS surveillance and shows correlation to phenotypic serotyping and antimicrobial susceptibility data.

Nasal high flow (NHF) therapy is an established form of non invasive respiratory support used in acute and chronic care. Recently, a new high flow nasal cannula with asymmetric prongs was approved for clinical use. Importance: Triple-negative breast cancer is an aggressive subtype with a high incidence in young patients, a high incidence in non-Hispanic Black women, and a high risk of progression to metastatic cancer, a devastating sequela with a 12- to 18-month life expectancy. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of concomitant CAD assessment on pre-TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) planning CTA (CT angiography) aided by CT-FFR (CT-fractional flow reserve) [The CT2TAVI protocol] and investigates the incremental value of CT-FFR to coronary CT angiography (CCTA) alone in the evaluation of patients undergoing CT2TAVI. This is a prospective observational real-world cohort study at an academic health system on consecutive patients who underwent CTA for TAVI planning from 1/2021 to 6/2022. This represented a transition period in our health system, from not formally reporting CAD on pre-TAVI planning CTA (Group A) to routinely reporting CAD on pre-TAVI CTA (Group B; CT2TAVI protocol).

Oncogenes, the driver genes that promote uncontrolled cell proliferation, have long been recognized as key drivers of cellular transformation and tumorigenesis. Paradoxically, accumulating evidence demonstrates that targeting certain oncogenes to inhibit tumor cell proliferation can unexpectedly induce processes like epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), conferring enhanced invasive and metastatic capabilities.
