Objective: Determine and measure the association of social factors and health conditions with worse capacity and performance levels.
Methods: Dependent variables consisted of performance and capacity; independent variables comprised age, gender, level of education, personal income, and health conditions. Means (95%CI) of performance and capacity were presented according to the independent variables. Generalized linear models, using a mutual adjustment for all variables considered statistically significant (p < 0.05), measured the associations between each exposure and outcomes. Study population included 12,265 individuals.
Results: Older women with lower education and income levels and with some health condition showed the worst performance and capacity.
Conclusion: Results showed that the capacity and performance levels of the Chilean population changed according to social demographic characteristics and health conditions.

In situations where the sufferer is in control of a motor vehicle, syncope can lead to accidents involving death and injury. In the medico-legal setting, cough syncope can be a contested cause of such accidents.

Should medical schools psychologically screen medical school applicants and students? Arguably, psychological screening could be used to identify at-risk candidates who have psychological conditions that make them more likely to act unprofessionally. In this column we analyse the arguments for and against such screening. We argue that psychological testing should be used by medical schools as part of a program to support students so that they are at less risk of engaging in poor professional behaviour.

Objective: Propose a framework to empirically evaluate and report validity of findings from observational studies using pre-specified objective diagnostics, increasing trust in real-world evidence (RWE).
Materials And Methods: The framework employs objective diagnostic measures to assess the appropriateness of study designs, analytic assumptions, and threats to validity in generating reliable evidence addressing causal questions. Diagnostic evaluations should be interpreted before the unblinding of study results or, alternatively, only unblind results from analyses that pass pre-specified thresholds.
