Published: June 2022

Background: Most clear aligner systems use straight or scalloped gingival margin aligners that are replaced weekly and that mainly use attachments to guide many movements. Yet in the literature some studies show the effectiveness of the aligner margin extended beyond the gingival margin, and divots instead of attachments and the biological advantage given by the use of aligners with differentiated thickness.

Material And Methods: A female patient (23 years old) with a pronounced proclination of the upper and lower incisors and moderate crowding who was treated with aligners weekly replaced with differentiated thickness, divots, no attachments and a straight margin beyond the gingival margin.

Results: The therapy was carried out in 5 months and did not need any refinements. A total of 40 aligners were used (20 with soft thickness and 20 with hard thickness for each arch).

Conclusions: Invisible aligners without attachments and with other therapeutic strategies such as divots and differentiated thickness are a valid alternative to traditional aligners that cannot be ignored. Orthodontics, clear aligners, appliances design.

Background/purpose: -2,3,5,4'-tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-β-D-glucoside (THSG) is a bioactive component in the Chinese herb Polygonum multiflorum, recognized for its anti-inflammatory and lipid-lowering properties. Human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) have excellent capabilities in tooth regeneration, wound healing, and neural repair. The exosomes (Exo) released by hDPSCs contain bioactive molecules that influence cell proliferation, differentiation, and immune responses.

Purpose: Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) has emerged as a novel approach in corneal transplantation over the past two decades. This study aims to identify predisposing risk factors for post-DMEK ocular hypertension (OHT) and develop a preoperative predictive model for post-DMEK OHT.

Methods: Patients who underwent DMEK at Gangnam Severance Hospital between 2017 and 2024 were included in the study.

Objectives: To determine the efficacy of quantitative shear wave elastography in differentiating benign and malignant axillary lymph nodes (ALN).

Methods: Exactly 127 lymph nodes from 127 patients with clinically palpable axillary swelling were examined by both B-mode sonography and elastography from November 2022 to March 2024. Gray-scale sonograms were evaluated based on: the short-axis diameter, shape, hilum, maximum cortical thickness, and border of the ALN.

Purpose: Differentiating between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) can be challenging due to overlapping cognitive and behavioral manifestations. Evidence regarding non-invasive and early-stage biomarkers remains limited. Our aim was to identify retinal biomarkers for the risk of AD and FTD in populations without dementia and explore underlying brain structural mechanisms.

Primary cilia play a pivotal role in cellular signaling and development and disruptions in ciliary form and/or function leads to human ciliopathies. Here, we examine the role of , a key component of the intraflagellar transport-A complex, in mouse forebrain development using a null allele. Our findings reveal significant microcephaly in homozygous mutants is caused by disrupted neural progenitor proliferation and differentiation.
