Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive condition that arises from diverse etiological factors, resulting in structural alterations and functional impairment of the kidneys. We aimed to establish the Anoikis-related gene signature in CKD by bioinformatics analysis.
Methods: We retrieved 3 datasets from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to obtain differentially expressed genes (DEGs), followed by Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis, Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) and Gene Set Variation Analysis (GSVA) of them, which were intersected with Anoikis-related genes (ARGs) to derive Anoikis-related differentially expressed genes (ARDEGs).

The protozoan Toxoplasma gondii, which can infect a wide range of warm-blooded animal hosts, including humans, causes the zoonosis toxoplasmosis. This parasite affects dogs, and infections may lead to neuromuscular problems in them. Likewise, dogs can act as sentinels for toxoplasmosis, providing valuable information on the prevalence of the parasite in a given area.

Toxoplasma gondii, an obligate intracellular protozoan, infects almost all warm-blooded animals and humans, with felines serving as its sole definitive hosts. Cats release T. gondii oocysts into the environment through feces, contributing to environmental contamination that can lead to toxoplasmosis in humans upon exposure through ingestion of contaminated food, water, or soil.

Objective: To describe two severe cases of congenital toxoplasmosis in infants born to chronically infected mothers who did not receive education or information on the prevention of gestational toxoplasmosis during prenatal care.
Case Description: The mothers had a previous serological diagnosis of toxoplasmosis conducted during prenatal care, with non-reactive (<10 IU/mL) IgM and reactive IgG (>10 IU/mL), and were considered "immune" to the infection. Both infants were born with sequelae of the congenital infection, including neurological and ocular alterations.
