Agents for tumor vascular infarction are recently developed therapeutic agents for the vascular destruction of tumors. They can suppress the progression of the tumor by preventing the flow of nutrition and oxygen to its tissues. Agents of tumor vascular infarction can be divided into three categories according to the differences in their pathways of action: those that use the thrombin-activating pathway, fibrin-activating pathway, and platelet-activating pathway. However, poor targeting ability, low permeation, and potential side-effects restrict the development of the corresponding drugs. Biomaterials can subtly avoid these drawbacks to suppress the tumor. In this article, the authors summarize currently used biomaterials for tumor infarction therapy with the goal of identifying its mechanism, and discuss outstanding deficiencies in methods of this kind.

In recent years, evidence of the existence of cellular senescence in the central nervous system has accumulated. In ischemic stroke, cellular senescence has been suggested as an unidentified pathophysiological mechanism, prompting research into the neuroprotective potential of senolytic drugs. This study aims to provide spatio-temporal evidence of the existence of brain senescence following ischemic stroke and to elucidate the involved pathways and cell types.

Premature myocardial infarction (MI) risk factors, including genetic ones, are crucial for an individual risk stratification. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of genetic variants in young patients with MI and a family history of premature atherosclerosis (FHpa). The studied group consisted of 70 patients aged 26-49 (mean 43.

Grape pomace (GP), the residue left after grape pressing in winemaking, is rich in polyphenols, including flavonoids, tannins, and phenolic acids, which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The present study aimed to evaluate the cardioprotective effects of white grape pomace (WGP) extract in two concentrations rich in polyphenols (795 mg polyphenols from WGP/kg body weight (bw) and 397.5 mg polyphenols from WGP/kg bw)), on isoproterenol (ISO)-induced myocardial infarction (MI), focusing on its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

Various conditions can cause myelopathy due to cervical epidural fluid collection, including idiopathic cervical epidural hematoma, traumatic cervical epidural hematoma, infectious myelitis, epidural abscess, spinal cord infarction, post-traumatic cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage, and epidural tumors. While physical compression from hematoma, abscess, or epidural tumors is common, and carcinomatous meningitis can cause CSF flow obstruction and accumulation leading to myelopathy, rapid progression of serous fluid collection causing myelopathy is rare. We report a case of myelopathy caused by rapid accumulation of epidural exudate from a metastatic tumor in the cervical lamina.

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility and safety of implanting covered stents in cases of advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (ASCCHN) where the carotid artery was involved.
Methods: A total of 30 patients (29 males and one female) were included in this study, with ages ranging from 40 to 79 years. Among these patients, 28 patients had received radiotherapy and 17 received subsequent adjuvant therapy, while one was receiving treatment for the first time.
