Objectives: To observe the clinical effect and recurrence rate of mitomycin C combined with operation in the treatment of hyperplastic scar of auricle with different diameters.

Methods: A total of 53 patients (67 ears) collected from January 2011 to June 2019 were randomly divided into a combined treatment group (31 ears) and a control group (36 ears). The recurrence rate was observed from one year to three years after operation.

Results: The recurrence rate was 52.8% in the control group and 16.1% in the combined treatment group, respectively. For the hyperplastic scar of auricle with diameter from >1.0 cm to 3.0 cm, the recurrence rate was significantly lower in the combined treatment group than that in the control group (χ=10.804, <0.05). But there was no significant difference for the hyperplastic scar of auricle with diameter less than 1.0 cm or more than 3.0 cm (both >0.05).

Conclusions: Mitomycin C combined with surgery can significantly reduce or delay the recurrence rate of middle diameter of hyperplastic scar of auricle, but it does not affect the hyperplastic scar of auricle with too large or too small diameter.

Background: Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH)-like lesions are hyperplastic formations in patients with micronodular cirrhosis and a history of alcohol abuse. Although pathologically similar to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) lesions, they are benign. As such, it is important to develop methods to distinguish between FNH-like lesions and HCC.

Assessing Malignant Risk in B3 Breast Lesions: Clinical Insights and Implications.

J Clin Med

December 2024

Multidisciplinary Breast Centre, Dipartimento Scienze della Salute della Donna e del Bambino e di Sanità Pubblica, Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, 00168 Rome, Italy.

: B3 breast lesions, characterized by uncertain malignant potential, pose a significant challenge for clinicians. With the increasing use of preoperative biopsies, there is a need for careful management strategies, including watchful waiting, vacuum-assisted excision (VAE), and surgery. This study aims to assess the concordance between preoperative biopsy findings and postoperative histology, with a focus on evaluating the positive predictive value (PPV) for malignancy in B3 lesions.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of minimally invasive dermabrasion for deep second-degree facial burn wounds during the early postburn phase.

Methods: A total of 35 patients with deep second-degree facial burns underwent minimally invasive debridement using a hydrosurgery system within 2-4 days post-injury. Subsequently, the wounds were covered with human biological dressings.

Pseudoepitheliomatous hyperplasia (PEH) is a rare histopathological reaction. Cases of PEH have been infrequently reported, and it's even rare to appear as a postsurgical complication. This case report describes the development of multiple masses and purulent discharge around an abdominal scar following surgery for hepatocellular carcinoma, which morphologically resembles squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), though pathology revealed no signs of malignancy.

Bioactive Materials Facilitate the Restoration of Neurological Function Post Cerebral Ischemic Stroke.

Department of Neurology, Neurology Specialist Hospital, The First Hospital of Jilin University, Jilin University, Changchun, People's Republic of China.

The recovery process following ischemic stroke is a complex undertaking involving intricate cellular and molecular interactions. Cellular dysfunction or aberrant pathways can lead to complications such as brain edema, hemorrhagic transformation, and glial scar hyperplasia, hindering angiogenesis and nerve regeneration. These abnormalities may contribute to long-term disability post-stroke, imposing significant burdens on both families and society.
