Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of safflower yellow (SY) combined with low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) in preventing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after orthopedic surgery.
Methods: We conducted a comprehensive investigation of PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library, CNKI, VIP, and Wanfang databases to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from January 2000 to March 2024. These trials compared the efficacy of SY combined with LMWH versus LMWH alone in preventing post-surgical DVT.

Patients with Fontan physiology are at heightened risk of thrombosis related to passive venous return leading to increased stasis, as well as acquired thrombophilia from congestive hepatopathy. Variability exists for post-Fontan thromboprophylaxis, with no consensus on best practices. Direct oral anticoagulants offer advantages over conventional anticoagulants including fewer drug-drug interactions, no dietary restrictions, and less frequent monitoring.

Importance: The optimal pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis agent after total hip and total knee arthroplasty is uncertain and consensus is lacking. Quantifying the risk of postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE) and bleeding and evaluating comparative effectiveness and safety of the thromboprophylaxis strategies can inform care.
Objective: To quantify risk factors for postoperative VTE and bleeding and compare patient outcomes among pharmacological thromboprophylaxis agents used after total hip and knee arthroplasty.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a frequent occurrence during treatment for adults with sarcoma. The incidence and underlying risk factors of postsurgical VTE in children and adolescents undergoing resection of sarcoma are unknown.
Methods: Using International Classification of Disease revision-9 diagnostic and procedure codes, the Pediatric Health Information System database was queried for patients aged 18 years and younger, discharged from 2004 to 2015 with a diagnosis of lower extremity malignant neoplasm who had a tumor resection or amputation performed during the encounter.
