17 beta-Acetamido-5-androsten-3 beta-ol-p-bis(2-chloroethyl) aminophenylacetate and 17 beta-acetamido-5 alpha-androstan-3 beta-ol-p-bis(2-chloroethyl)aminophenylacetate, amido steroidal alkylating agents, were investigated in L1210 and P388 leukemias, Ehrlich ascites tumor, and adenocarcinoma CA-755. Both substances were determined to increase the life span of the tumor-bearing animals and to cause several long-term survivors in adenocarcinoma CA-755.

The anti-tumor activity of the binuclear form of dinitrosyl iron complexes with glutathione against Lewis lung carcinoma, found earlier upon intraperitoneal administration of the complexes, was also observed when this preparation was injected subcutaneously. A 100 μM/kg subcutaneous dose of the complex being used daily (as calculated per one iron atom in binuclear dinitrosyl iron complexes) for 10 or 15 days, inhibited the tumor growth by 43%. The effect was observed during the first two weeks after tumor transplantation.

This drug induced 60-80% tumor growth inhibition of these murine solid tumor strains. Polysuccinimide is also effective (60%) against development of metastatic process in lung (Lewis lung carcinoma).

In doxorubicin-resistant MCF-7 cells, CA potentiates the cytotoxic effect of etoposide and doxorubicin, and the IC50 for CA in these cells is 40 times lower than that for tamoxifen (TAM). In transplantable mice breast adenocarcinoma Ca-755, the therapeutic CA dose is 25 mg/kg when administered subcutaneously in oil solution for 5 days.

It was shown that MP-1 enhanced the effect ofcytostatic therapy of lymphatic leukemia P388 and increased latent growth period of P388 tumors implanted in irradiated mice. MP-1 also decreased metastasis of mouse breast adenocarcinoma Ca-755 after surgery.
