The development of high-performance individual marking taggants is of great significance. However, the interaction between taggant and skin is not fully understood, and a standard for marking taggants has yet to be realized. To achieve a highly retentive, anti-interference, and covert individual marking fluorescent taggant, Mn -doped NaYF :Yb/Er upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs), are surface-functionalized with polyethyleneimine (PEI) to remarkably enhance the interaction between the amino groups and skin, and thus to facilitate the surface adhesion and chemical penetration of the taggant. Electrostatic interaction between PEI -UCNPs and skin as well as remarkable penetration inside the epidermis is responsible for excellent taggant retention capability, even while faced with robust washing, vigorous wiping, and rubbing for more than 100 cycles. Good anti-interference capability and reliable marking performance in real cases are ensured by an intrinsic upconversion characteristic with a distinct red luminescent emission under 980 nm excitation. The present methodology is expected to shed light on the design of high-performance individual marking taggants from the perspective of the underlying interaction between taggant and skin, and to help advance the use of fluorescent taggants for practical application, such as special character tracking.

Ornithopods are an extinct group of dinosaurs that were particularly abundant and diverse in the Cretaceous of the Iberian Peninsula, and whose abundance in the Maestrazgo Basin has allowed numerous taxa to be identified over the last decade. Many of these fossil remains are still taxonomically indeterminate and require a more detailed study on both a macroscopic and microscopic scale. In this contribution, an osteohistological analysis is carried out on a partial skeleton-composed of five incomplete vertebrae, two dorsal ribs, an ischium, a fibula, and a tibia-found in the province of Aliaga (Teruel, NE Spain).

Background: Teaching collaborative practice behaviors (CPBs) to interprofessional healthcare students could improve healthcare for underserved populations.
Objective: This study explained the impact of Simulation Enhanced Interprofessional Education (SIM-IPE) on healthcare students' self-reported CPBs and their perceptions of utilizing CPBs when caring for underserved populations, as well as the differences among professions within interprofessional teams.
Design: Mixed methods explanatory design.

Aminopolyphosphonates (APPs) are widely used as chelating agents, and their increasing release into the environment has raised concerns due to their transformation into aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA) and glyphosate, compounds of controversial environmental impact. This transformation highlights the urgent need for detailed studies under controlled conditions. Despite the availability of various methods for quantifying individual aminopolyphosphonates and aminomonophosphonates, a green, low-cost approach for the simultaneous quantification of APPs and their transformation products in laboratory experiments has been lacking.

Introduction: The concept of privacy marks an astonishing gap in the discussion about care for people with dementia (PwD). In general, questions of privacy play an important role and attract much attention in the ethics of nursing care. Yet, when it comes to dementia care, there is hardly any systematic ethical debate on the topic at all.

Background: Non-typhoidal Salmonella (NTS) frequently cause bloodstream infection in children under-five in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in malaria-endemic areas. Due to increasing drug resistance, NTS are often not covered by standard-of-care empirical antibiotics for severe febrile illness. We developed a clinical prediction model to orient the choice of empirical antibiotics (standard-of-care versus alternative antibiotics) for children admitted to hospital in settings with high proportions of drug-resistant NTS.
