The autonomic nervous system is the main determinant of the blood flow directed towards a body part, and it is tightly connected to the representation of the body in the brain; would the experimental modulation of the sense of ownership of the limb affect its blood perfusion? In healthy participants, we employed the rubber hand illusion paradigm to modulate limb ownership while we monitored the brachial artery blood flow and resistance of the investigated limb. In all conditions with brush-stroking, we found an initial drop in the blood flow due to tactile stimulation. Subsequently, in the illusion condition where both the rubber and real hand experience synchronous brush-stroking, the blood flow rose significantly faster and reached significantly higher values. Moreover, the increase in blood flow correlated to the embodiment level measured by questionnaires and, negatively, to the change of peripherical vascular resistance. These findings demonstrate that modulating the representation of a body part impacts its blood perfusion.

Although the corticosteroid betamethasone is routinely administered to accelerate lung and cardiovascular maturation in the preterm fetus prior to birth, and use of delayed cord clamping (DCC) is recommended at birth by professional bodies, it is unknown whether antenatal betamethasone alters perinatal pulmonary or systemic arterial blood flow accompaniments of DCC. To address this issue, preterm fetal lambs [gestation 127 (1) days, term = 147 days] with (n = 10) or without (n = 10) antenatal betamethasone treatment were acutely instrumented under general anaesthesia with flow probes to obtain left (LV) and right ventricular (RV) outputs, major central arterial blood flows and shunt flow across both the ductus arteriosus and foramen ovale (FO). Introduction: Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is the most common form of leukemia in adults in Western countries, with a median age at diagnosis of 72 years. This guide, developed by the Spanish Group for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (GELLC), addresses the most relevant aspects of CLL, with the objectives of facilitating and aiding the diagnostic process, establishing therapeutic recommendations for choosing the best treatment for each type of patient, as well as standardizing the management of CLL and ensuring equity across different hospitals in terms of the use of the various available treatment regimens.
Methodology: The references obtained were classified according to the level of evidence and following the criteria established by the Agency for Health Research and Quality, and the recommendations were classified according to the criteria of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).
