We report the application of saturable absorbers prepared from graphdiyne-modified tapered fibers to an erbium-doped fiber laser to achieve a femtosecond pulse output. Graphdiyne quantum dots are successfully prepared by the Glaser-Hay method. The graphdiyne-based all-fiber saturable absorber device exhibited strongly saturable absorption characteristics with a modulation depth of 18.06% and a saturation intensity of 103.5 W. The net dispersion of the erbium-doped fiber laser cavity is ~0.016 ps, and a femtosecond pulse output with a bandwidth of 26.3 nm, a pulse width of 135.8 fs, and a single pulse capability of 54 pJ is obtained. This work lays the foundation for the application of the nonlinear optical material, graphdiyne, in ultrafast photonics.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is widely used across various industries owing to its versatility and favorable properties, including application in beverage bottles, food containers, textile fibers, engineering resins, films, and sheets. However, polymer materials are susceptible to degradation from factors such as light, oxygen, and heat. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the structural changes that occur during degradation and the extent of these changes.

An erbium-doped fiber ring laser based on a single-mode fiber-no-core fiber-single-mode fiber (SMF-NCF-SMF) structure was constructed and experimentally demonstrated for label-free DNA hybridization measurement. The SMF-NCF-SMF structure acts as a sensing element and a filter to select the laser wavelength. The proposed fiber ring laser sensor exhibits a high optical signal-to-noise ratio (SNR, >50 dB) and narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM, <0.

Introduction: Little is known about the day-to-day variability of different skin microcirculation parameters, and how this variability is influenced by age and sex. The aim was to examine the day-to-day variability of microcirculatory parameters in relation to age and sex.
Methods: The cutaneous microcirculation was measured using a fiber optic probe integrating laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) to measure oxygen saturation, red blood cell (RBC) tissue fraction, speed-resolved and conventional perfusion.

Phenolic acid-chitosan derivatives have received extensive attention due to their greatly enhanced mechanical, antibacterial and antioxidant properties, especially in food preservation. The chitosan-gentianic acid (CS-g-GA) was prepared and its impact on myofibrillar proteins (MPs) in sea bass (Lateolabrax maculatus) during refrigerated storage was investigated in this study. Fish fillets were immersed in distilled water, CS, GA and CS-g-GA solutions, respectively, followed by an 18-day refrigerated storage.
