The structure of dielectric perovskite BaZrO, long known to be cubic at room temperature without any structural phase transition with variation in temperature, has been recently disputed to have different ground state structures with lower symmetries involving octahedra rotation. Pressure-dependent Raman scattering measurements can identify the hierarchy of energetically-adjacent polymorphs, helping in turn to understand its ground state structure at atmospheric pressure. Here, the Raman scattering spectra of high-quality BaZrO single crystals grown by the optical floating zone method are investigated in a pressure range from 1 atm to 42 GPa. First, based on the analyses of the infrared and Raman spectra measured at atmospheric pressure, it was found that all the observed vibrational modes could be assigned according to the cubic Pm3¯m structure. In addition, by applying pressure, two structural phase transitions were found at 8.4 and 19.2 GPa, one from the cubic to the rhombohedral 3¯ phase and the other from the rhombohedral to the tetragonal 4/ phase. Based on the two pressure-induced structural phase transitions, the true ground state structure of BaZrO at room temperature and ambient pressure was corroborated to be cubic while the rhombohedral phase was the closest second.

ConspectusLithium-ion batteries (LIBs) based on graphite anodes are a widely used state-of-the-art battery technology, but their energy density is approaching theoretical limits, prompting interest in lithium-metal batteries (LMBs) that can achieve higher energy density. In addition, the limited availability of lithium reserves raises supply concerns; therefore, research on postlithium metal batteries is underway. A major issue with these metal anodes, including lithium, is dendritic formation and insufficient reversibility, which leads to safety risks due to short circuits and the use of flammable electrolytes.

Mares with endometrosis exhibit histological changes not only in the endometrium but also in the myometrium that suggest possible functional impairment. The molecular background of these changes is not well understood. We hypothesize that the transcriptomic profile of the mare myometrium varies depending on the degree of endometrosis in mares.

Phase transitions in the mantle control its internal dynamics and structure. The post-spinel transition marks the upper-lower mantle boundary, where ringwoodite dissociates into bridgmanite plus ferropericlase, and its Clapeyron slope regulates mantle flow across it. This interaction has previously been assumed to have no lateral spatial variations, based on the assumption of a linear post-spinel boundary in pressure and temperature.

The ternary complex effectively prevents droplet aggregation, Ostwald ripening, and phase separation through its gel network, thereby demonstrating its capability in bioactive compound delivery. In this work, the influence of varying chickpea protein isolate (CPI) levels on the microstructure, gel characteristics, stability and functional properties of grape seed proanthocyanidin (GSP) and konjac gum (KGM) stabilized ternary complexes was investigated. Visual appearance indicated the formation of a non-stratified ternary complex as the CPI enhanced to 3-4 %.

For the effective removal of phenol from the environment, photocatalytic synergistic adsorption is currently one of the key methods. By leveraging the polysaccharide backbone structure of sodium alginate (SA),Zinc hydroxystannate (ZHS) was introduced into the gel structure using a co-precipitation technique. Additionally, gangue waste was repurposed through a polymerization reaction.
