Rosa roxburghii fruit is an underutilized functional food abundant in polyphenols. Polyphenols have been proved to have antidiabetic effects. This study investigates the effects of Rosa roxburghii fruit polyphenols extract (RPE) on plasma metabolites and gut microbiota composition in streptozotocin (STZ)- and high-fat diet- induced type 2 diabetes using metabolomics and 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The induced diabetic mice were fed with 400 mg/kg body weight RPE for 8 weeks. RPE demonstrated hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, and anti-inflammatory effects. Colonic oxidative stress biomarkers were also lowered by RPE. Besides, RPE decreased plasma ceramides and tyrosine levels and increased carnitine and phosphatidylinositols levels, indicating improved insulin resistance, lipid metabolism, and immune response. Furthermore, RPE decreased abundances of and and increased abundances of and . Metabolic function prediction of the gut microbiota by PICRUSt demonstrated that RPE downregulated the phosphotransferase system. Taken together, these findings demonstrated that RPE has the potential to prevent type 2 diabetes by regulating the plasma metabolites and gut microbes.

The synthesis of nanomaterials from renewable resources has emerged as an environmentally friendly alternative. This approach helps to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers in agricultural production, further reducing the potential harm to the ecosystem and effectively reducing the burden on the environment. In this work, we synthesized derived carbon dots (CDs) using the microwave hydrothermal method (RR-CDs) and the electrolytic oxidation method (GRR-CDs), and the results showed that RR-CDs had a wider ultraviolet absorption range and emitted blue fluorescence.

In this study, various levels (0 %-30 % w/w, based on corn starch) of Rosa roxburghii Tratt fruit pomace (RRTP) were used as antioxidant fillers to develop corn starch (CS)-based bioactive films via the extrusion compression molding technique. The results showed that incorporating RRTP into CS could remarkably improve the barrier, mechanical and antioxidant properties of the films compared to pure CS film. Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (PVPP) is commonly employed for fining in fruit wine brewing. This study aimed to investigate the impact of PVPP pretreatment on the formation of fermentation aroma and polyphenol distribution in Rosa roxburghii Tratt (RRT) wine. A significant effect of PVPP on polyphenol adsorption was observed, and polyphenol families or subfamilies such as flavanols and flavonols showed specific affinity for PVPP, decreasing by over 19 % and 30 %, respectively.
