We discuss novel many-fermions thermodynamics' features. They refer to the energy cost associated to order-disorder changes. Our thermal quantum statistical scenario is controlled by suitable fermion-fermion interactions. We deal with two well-known quantum interactions that operate within an exactly solvable model. This model is able to adequately describe some aspects of fermion-dynamics, particularly level-crossings. We describe things via employment of Gibbs' canonical ensemble strictures. We show that judicious manipulation of the energy cost associated to statistical order (disorder) variations generates useful information-quantifiers. The underlying idea is that changes in the degree of order are intimately linked to level-crossings energetic costs.

Pumps in Water Distribution Networks (WDNs) adequately provide effective pressure where low elevation or high head losses are detected within the system. One of the most effective strategies to ensure economic sustainability is Pump Scheduling (PS), assuring the optimization of pump management and enabling significant energy cost saving. Meta-heuristic algorithms can be applied to Pump Scheduling, given their ability to provide reliable global solutions, further complemented by limited computational efforts.

Additive Manufacturing (AM) was evaluated as a promising technology for constructing photocatalytic reactors due to its inherent ability to produce complex geometries with high precision and customization. In this work, a 3D structure was designed to achieve a good light distribution inside a cylindrical batch reactor and printed using the stereolithography (SLA) technique. A hybrid material composed of a commercial photoreactive resin (Formlabs Clear V4) and the benchmark photocatalyst TiO P25 Evonik (1 wt%) was prepared and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and rheological and mechanical methods.

This work studies the influence of flue gas composition, its moisture and ash content, on the efficiency of a CO adsorption/desorption process to capture the CO from flue gases along with its subsequent reuse in greenhouse CO enrichment (Patent ES2514090). The influence of the inlet flow rate, moisture, and ash content were analysed. The experimental conditions were based on those that are achievable under real operating conditions, namely an inlet flow rate from 1.

This paper addresses the participation of independent aggregators (IAs) for demand response (DR) in European electricity markets. An IA is an aggregator trading the flexibility of consumers of which it is not the electricity supplier. Particularly, we focus on the controversial issue of a compensation payment from the IA to the supplier for energy sourcing.

The rapidly increasing number of elderly people in the world highlights the need for the development of innovative foods with modified textures that do not expose the elderly to the risks associated with food consumption (risk of aspiration, suffocation, and chocking). Providing specific food such as edible gel for the elderly population and the study of their properties is a challenge for the scientific community. There are some available gels in the supermarkets destined for the sports population, with specific texture and technological properties that could be used and extrapolated for senior people.
