Case Summary: A cat aged 12 years and 7 months was referred to a multidisciplinary hospital for investigation of feline injection site sarcoma (FISS) on the left thoracolumbar region. A CT examination of the mass revealed a multi-lobulated mass affecting the body wall, extending from the level of lumbar vertebrae L2 to L4. The mass was excised with 5 cm lateral margins, including resection of the 13th left rib, the caudal edge of the latissimus dorsi (LD) muscle, full-thickness abdominal wall and sections of the lumbar epaxial muscles.

Introduction: Perineal hernias, protrusions through the pelvic diaphragm, are a rare complication post-abdominoperineal resection. The shift to extralevator APR techniques could be linked to a potential increase in these hernias. This case series evaluates the surgical management of perineal hernias, focusing on the evolving role of robotic surgery.

Background: Management of RCC with IVC thrombus can be surgically challenging, particularly when the tumour thrombus extends above the diaphragm. Cardiopulmonary bypass is often employed to aid surgical removal of the tumour in such cases.

Case Presentation: We detail an instance of 67-year-old Male patient suffering from RCC with IVC thrombus, with the tumour thrombus extending into the right atrium, who developed on-table retrograde type A aortic dissection amidst the surgical procedure, thereby precluding cardiopulmonary bypass.

Article Synopsis
  • - Extra-skeletal Ewing sarcoma (EES) is a rare but aggressive tumor that affects soft tissue and is part of the primitive neuroectodermal tumors family, with only about 30 documented cases.
  • - A 20-year-old female patient experienced symptoms like shortness of breath and chest pain, leading to the discovery of a soft tissue mass that was eventually diagnosed as Ewing sarcoma through biopsy.
  • - Early detection and a multidisciplinary treatment approach, including surgical resection and chemotherapy, are crucial for improving patient outcomes, as EES often presents with non-specific symptoms and has a poor prognosis.

Background: Acute type A aortic dissection (ATAD) can cause visceral malperfusion. Central aortic repair may resolve malperfusion, but some require further intervention. This study aimed to review outcomes after ATAD presenting with visceral malperfusion and to evaluate the predictive value of true lumen (TL) morphologies in preoperative computed tomography scan for persistent superior mesenteric artery (SMA) ischemia after central repair.
