The aim of the present study was to explore the high-yield production of hydroxytyrosol, a phenolic compound with very high antioxidant capacity. leaves were chosen as feedstock as they contain significant amounts of oleuropein, which can be hydrolyzed to hydroxytyrosol. The chosen techniques are widely used in the industry and can be easily scaled up. Olive leaves underwent drying and mechanical pretreatment and extractives were transported to a solvent by solid-liquid extraction using water-ethanol mixtures. The use of approximately 60-80% ethanol showed an almost 2-fold increase in extracted phenolics compared to pure water, to approximately 45 g/kg of dry leaves. Extracted oleuropein was hydrolyzed with hydrochloric acid and the hydrolysate was extracted with ethyl acetate after pH adjustment. This step led to a hydroxytorosol content increase from less than 4% to approximately 60% / of dry extract, or 10-15 g of hydroxytyrosol recovery per kg of dry leaves.

Objective: To determine the feasibility, yield, and safety of fluoroscopic-guided aspiration of the acutely dislocated total hip arthroplasty (AD-THA).
Materials And Methods: IRB-approved, retrospective review of fluoroscopic-guided aspirations of AD-THA (January 2005-December 2023) was performed. Data from electronic charts and fluoroscopy images/reports were obtained.

Terpene synthases produce a wide number of hydrocarbon skeletons by controlling intramolecular rearrangements of allylic pyrophosphate subtrates reactive carbocation intermediates. Here we review recent research focused on engineering terpene synthases and modifying their substrates to rationally manipulate terpene catalyisis. Molecular dynamic simulations and solid state X-ray crystallography are powerful techniques to identify substrate binding modes, key active site residues for substrate folding, and the location of active site water.

Food production does more damage to wild species than any other sector of human activity, yet how best to limit its growing impact is greatly contested. Reviewing progress to date in interventions that encourage less damaging diets or cut food loss and waste, we conclude that both are essential but far from sufficient. In terms of production, field studies from five continents quantifying the population-level impacts of land sharing, land sparing, intermediate and mixed approaches for almost 2000 individually assessed species show that implementing high-yield farming to spare natural habitats consistently outperforms land sharing, particularly for species of highest conservation concern.

Phanerochaete chrysosporium (Pc), is a prominent lignin-degrading fungus which serves as an important source for lignin-degrading enzymes (LDEs). The present study was focused on a detailed in silico analysis and gene expression patterns of lignin peroxidases (PcLiPs), which is a significant class of LDEs. In spite of extensive research on P.

Direct oxidation of methane to methanol utilizing molecular oxygen under mild conditions is an important yet challenging process due to the difficulty in activation of methane under such conditions. In this research, we report zeolitic octahedral metal oxides based on cobalt vanadotungstates, which act as the catalysts for oxidation of methane using molecular oxygen as the oxidant without co-reductants at a low temperature of 90 oC even as low as 60 oC. This catalytic process results in the high-yield production of methanol as the major product.
