Article Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the bond strength of AH26 to human coronal dentin exposed to DMSO. A total of 70 dentin specimens were equally divided into two groups. Each dentin surface was pre-treated with 2 mL of 2.5% NaOCl, 3 mL of EDTA 17%, and distilled water. One group was finally rinsed with 50% DMSO. Following the AH26 application, the bond strength was tested by subjecting the samples to a shear load at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min using universal testing equipment. The results according to paired samples -test indicated that there was a statistically insignificant difference between the two groups. Therefore, DMSO had no effect on the bond strength of AH26 root sealer to dentin.

Statement Of Problem: The optimal zirconia pretreatment, contingent upon the type of cement used, warrants further research.

Purpose: The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the influence of various surface pretreatments on the bonding efficacy of cement to zirconia.

Material And Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted across the PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science databases for in vitro studies related to bonding with zirconia up to April 2024, supplemented by a manual search.

The aim of this study was to assess the effect of a chlorhexidine digluconate solution (CHX) applied as an antiproteolytic agent for controlling erosive tooth wear or as part of the adhesive treatment on long-term bond strength to eroded dentin. Dentin specimens were abraded with a 600-grit silicon carbide (SiC) paper for 1 min (sound dentin - S), subsequently treated with 2% CHX for 1 min (with excess removed, followed by a 6-hour rest), and eroded by exposure to Coca-Cola for 5 min, three times a day, for 5 days (CHX-treated and eroded dentin - CHXE), or only eroded (eroded dentin - E). The specimens were acid-etched (15 s), rinsed (30 s), dried (15 s), and rehydrated with 1.

Outcome of Er, Cr:YSGG laser and antioxidant pretreatments on bonding quality to caries-induced dentin.

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

Conservative Dentistry Department, Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Future University, Cairo, Egypt.

Background: This study aimed to assess the influence of different pretreatment protocols and antioxidants application on the shear bond strength (SBS) of universal adhesive to sound (SoD) and caries-induced dentin (CID).

Methods: One hundred and twenty posterior teeth had their occlusal enamel removed, then the specimens were divided into two main groups according to dentin substrates; SoD and CID, three subgroups according to pretreatments protocols control (no pretreatment), NaOCl-treated, and Er, Cr:YSGG-treated and two divisions according to antioxidant application (with and without sodium ascorbate (SA) application). All-Bond Universal (ABU) universal adhesives was applied in self-etch (SE) mode then resin composite discs were built.

Experimental Investigation of Cadmium Isotope Fractionation during Adsorption on Montmorillonite and Kaolinite.

Cadmium (Cd) isotopes have recently emerged as novel tracers of Cd sources and geochemical processes. Widespread clay minerals play a key role in Cd migration due to their strong adsorption capacity, but the mechanism of Cd isotope fractionation during adsorption onto clay minerals is poorly understood. Here, we experimentally investigated the adsorption mechanisms of Cd on montmorillonite (2:1) and kaolinite (1:1) by using extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy.

Biocompatible autonomous self-healing PVA-CS/TA hydrogels based on hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interaction.

The biocompatible autonomous self-healing hydrogels have great potential in biomedical applications. However, the fairly weak tensile strength of the hydrogels seriously hinders their application. Here, we introduced chitosan (CS) into the polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-tannic acid (TA) hydrogel and investigated the effects of the CS content, as CS can not only form reversible H bonds with PVA and TA but also form reversible electrostatic interactions with TA.
