McMurry coupling reaction utilizes the low-valent titanium reagents and carbonyl compounds to produce olefins. The wide synthetic application of McMurry reagents in intermolecular and intramolecular coupling reactions, tandem coupling reactions, and keto ester coupling reactions of carbonyl compounds for the last five years have been reviewed. The resulting coupling reaction produces natural and non-natural products, including strained olefins and unusual molecules as a candidate for nanomaterials, pharmaceuticals, electronic materials, and so forth. The advantages, scope, and limitations along with the improvement of the McMurry coupling reaction, including the addition of high functional group compatibility, McMurry reagents substitution, and several other treatments, have also been discussed.

We disclosed a new strategy for the synthesis of 1,2-amino alcohols enabled by visible light without the requirement of a photocatalyst and metal. Under light irradiation at 400 nm, the reaction of carbonyl derivatives and -arylamines proceeds via an electron-donor-acceptor (EDA) intermediate, obtaining diverse vicinal amino alcohols decorated with a two-electron-rich/-deficient aryl group.

The construction of coupled electrolysis systems utilizing renewable energy sources for electrocatalytic nitrate reduction and sulfion oxidation reactions (NORR and SOR), is considered a promising approach for environmental remediation, ammonia production, and sulfur recovery. Here, a simple chemical dealloying method is reported to fabricate a hierarchical porous multi-metallic spinel MFeO (M═Ni, Co, Fe, Mn) dual-functional electrocatalysts consisting of Mn-doped porous NiFeO/CoFeO heterostructure networks and Ni/Co/Mn co-doped FeO nanosheet networks. The excellent NORR with high NH Faradaic efficiency of 95.

A facile copper-catalyzed, base-controlled cyclization reaction has been developed for the synthesis of 9-membered cycloalkyne and 6-membered heterocycle sultams under mild conditions. This protocol utilizes a copper-catalyzed intramolecular A (alkyne-aldehyde-amine) coupling reaction to efficiently synthesize 9-membered cycloalkyne sultams in yields up to 90%. Alternatively, by substituting NaHCO with DBU, the protocol achieves selective deprotection of the -propargyl group, thereby facilitating the formation of 6-membered heterocyclic sultams, also in high yields.

Background: Neural tube defects (NTDs) are defined as an incomplete closure of the neural tube (NT), with a prevalence of 1.2 per 1000 live births around the world. Methylation of the maternally imprinted gene Insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) is one of the epigenetic mechanisms that contribute significantly to the development of NTDs.

Direct electrochemical detection of miRNA biomarkers in tumor tissue interstitial fluid (TIF) holds great promise for adjuvant therapy for tumors in the perioperative period, yet is limited by background interference and weak signal. Herein, a wash-free and separation-free miRNA biosensor based on photoexcited electro-driven reactive oxygen channeling analysis (LEOCA) is developed to solve the high-fidelity detection in physiological samples. In the presence of miRNA, nanoacceptors (ultrasmall-size polydopamine, uPDA) are responsively assembled on the surface of nanodonors (zirconium metal-organic framework, ZrMOF) to form core-satellite aggregates.
