Unlabelled: This article provides a dual perspective, both academic and operational, on the 2016 scientific and citizen consultation on breast cancer screening and the public health actions being developed.
Method: In view of controversies around breast cancer screening, the Ministry of Health asked the French National Cancer Institute to organize this consultation to clarify the benefits and limitations of breast cancer screening, health objectives, organizing and tackling the health inequalities of this program. It has combined the setting up of an independent and multidisciplinary steering committee, a conference of citizens and professionals. It relied on the hearing of experts representing the trends of the controversy, on a technical and prospective report and on the analysis of nearly 500 online contributions. At the end of this process, the policy committee produced a report.
Results: In the end, two scenarios were presented, leading to a complete overhaul of the current screening process. As a result of this report, the Ministry announced the action plan for the renovation of organized breast cancer screening in 12 measures in April 2017.
Discussion: The discussion focuses on the consultation methodology as a tool for health democracy and on the levels of arbitration that led to the action plan. The objective is to reflect on the possible interactions between consultation and decision-making and to propose benchmarks for the development and improvement of this consultation.

Nearly 20 million people are diagnosed with cancer each year with breast cancer being the most common among women. Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), defined by its no/low expression of ER and PR and lack of amplification of HER2, makes up 15-20% of all breast cancer cases. While patients overall have a higher response to chemotherapy, this subgroup is associated with the lowest survival rate indicating significant clinical and molecular heterogeneity demanding alternate treatment options.

Background: Currently, the primary methods for detecting HER2 expression levels are immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH), with the traditional standard being a HER2-positive score of 3 + accompanied by ERBB2 gene amplification detected through ISH. However, a new entity has recently emerged: HER2-low, defined as HER2 IHC 1 + or 2 + with negative ISH. HER2-low breast cancer, representing 45-60% of all HER2-negative tumors, has distinct biological characteristics and uncertain responses to conventional HER2-targeted therapies.

Elevated copper levels induce tumor cuproptosis and ferroptosis, leading to immunogenic cell death and subsequent antitumor immune responses. However, dysregulated copper metabolism in tumor cells maintains homeostatic copper balance, while hypoxic microenvironments hinder therapeutic efficacy. In this study, we present a nanozyme system, termed CussOMEp, comprising a copper-based nanovector (CussNV) that is PEGylated and loaded with omeprazole, a copper transporter inhibitor, to enhance tumor synergistic immunotherapy by promoting cuproptosis and ferroptosis.
