Chemical analysis of the methanol extract of the root bark of led to the isolation of homopterocarpin (), secundiflorol I (), and maackain (). The structures of these compounds were elucidated based on their MS and NMR spectra. The crude methanol root extract was screened for its cytotoxic activity on mouse lymphoma cell line (L5178Y), and the isolated compounds were tested for their antioxidant activity using a 2, 2-diphenylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging model. The crude methanol root extract gave a percentage growth inhibition of 87.5% on the mouse lymphoma cell line (L5178Y). Compound 3 gave the highest antioxidant activity with an IC of 83µg/ml. These compounds can serve as leads for anticancer agents.

Aim: This research concerns the patentability of carvacrol; it could be helpful for researchers to easily identify any innovation in the biotechnological application of this monoterpene as well as other similar compounds.
Background: Like thyme or oregano, several plants in the Lamiaceae family produce carvacrol. It is one of the secondary metabolites with several biological activities, including the improvement in plants' resistance and their protection.

This study explores the effect of different extraction methods and preheat treatments in obtaining protein concentrate from pumpkin seed flour. The effects on the yield and functional properties of pumpkin seed protein concentrate (PSPC) were compared alongside microwave and conventional preheating methods using alkali, salt, and enzyme-assisted alkali extraction techniques. Analytical assessments included proximate analysis, soluble protein content, water solubility index (WSI), emulsification activity (EA) and stability (ES), foaming capacity (FC) and stability (FS), and antioxidant activity (AA).
