Background: The increased red cell distribution width (RDW) is related to a higher risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, it is yet unclear whether the dynamic change of RDW is associated with the major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) for individual with CVD.

Methods And Results: A cohort study was conducted among 228 patients who had unstable angina (UA) and underwent PCI. RDW was measured preceding PCI and re-measured on the 16th week after PCI. The change of RDW values was defined as RDW. The patients were divided into 3 groups in accordance with RDW: improved, stable, and worsened RDW groups. The patients were followed up for 6 years, and MACE episodes were recorded. The survival analysis showed that the incidence of MACEs in stable RDW group was significantly lower than that in improved and worsened RDW groups. By the COX model, the risk of the occurrence of cardiovascular events in improved RDW group was 1.661 times higher than the risk in stable RDW group (HR =1.661, 95% CI: 1.583-2.880, < 0.05) and the same situation was 3.307 times higher in worsened RDW group (HR =3.307, 95% CI: 1.830-5.041, < 0.05).

Conclusion: The measurement of RDW has potential to predict the MACEs in UA patients underwent PCI. The dynamic changes in RDW are associated with the outcome of CVD.

Effective targeting of somatic cancer mutations to enhance the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy requires an individualized approach. Autogene cevumeran is a uridine messenger RNA lipoplex-based individualized neoantigen-specific immunotherapy designed from tumor-specific somatic mutation data obtained from tumor tissue of each individual patient to stimulate T cell responses against up to 20 neoantigens. This ongoing phase 1 study evaluated autogene cevumeran as monotherapy (n = 30) and in combination with atezolizumab (n = 183) in pretreated patients with advanced solid tumors.

Background: The red cell distribution width (RDW) has been investigated as a predictive factor for complications and mortality in several critical illnesses, including cardiovascular diseases.

Objective: The current study aimed to assess the relationship of RDW with severity and in-hospital mortality in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Materials And Methods: A prospective hospital-based observational study was conducted at a tertiary care institute of Northern India.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to analyze the predictive value of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte count to monocyte count ratio (LMR), platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR), platelet count multiplied by neutrophil count to lymphocyte count ratio (SII), red blood cell distribution width (RDW), packed cell volume (PCV), and plateletcrit (PCT) levels in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors.

Materials And Methods: From March 2019 to August 2023, we screened 104 of 153 patients with stage III unresectable local advanced NSCLC and IV NSCLC who received PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor therapy at our hospital and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria for analysis. All patients were collected for clinical information, including baseline blood indicator (NLR, PLR, LMR, SII, CRP, RDW, PCV and PCT) levels before PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor therapy and blood indicator levels and imaging evaluation results every two cycles after PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor therapy.

Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is considered to be associated with the prognosis of patients with severe infections. This study aims to investigate the relationship between RDW and prognosis in osteomyelitis patients admitted to the ICU. Through a retrospective cohort study, relevant records of severe osteomyelitis patients were collected from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC-IV) database.

Article Synopsis
  • Several laboratory markers from a complete blood count (CBC) have been suggested as possible indicators for the risk of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), but evidence about this link is limited and conflicting.
  • The study involved 295 CVT patients and 341 healthy controls, revealing that CVT patients had higher red cell distribution width (RDW) and lower counts of red blood cells (RBC), hemoglobin (Hb), and hematocrit compared to healthy individuals.
  • It was found that female gender, smoking, and higher hematocrit levels were linked to a greater risk of idiopathic CVT (iCVT), suggesting that some CBC parameters could help identify CVT risk and differentiate between types of CVT, highlighting the need
