The goal of this article is to investigate the factors that affect the acceptability and processing of . Previous research has sought to determine whether there are acceptability and processing differences between with plural vs. singular antecedents, with mixed results. The studies reported here address this question using bound variable singular (e.g., ). We asked whether bound singular is sensitive to both the morphological number and the semantic distributivity of the binding quantifier phrase. We contrasted morphologically singular quantified antecedents ( and ) with plural quantified antecedents (). Instead of finding an effect of number, we found an effect of semantic distributivity in acceptability, with bound singular demonstrating a cline of preference toward more distributive antecedents. Neither number nor distributivity, however, registered as an effect on reading times. Rather, for all types of quantified antecedents, encountering a pronoun like or rather than registered a processing delay, in contrast to non-quantified antecedents. Our results are most fully compatible with the view that is underspecified for number properties.

In karst landscapes, where sustainable water management is increasingly challenged by drought-induced water scarcity, the adoption of road-based rainwater harvesting (RBWH) systems has emerged as a promising solution for improving water accessibility. Despite the growing implementation of such systems, the effectiveness of many RBWH projects in karst terrains remains suboptimal due to an inadequate understanding of runoff generation mechanisms associated with hilly road networks. This study focuses on quantifying the contributions of intercepted surface runoff (SR) and soil-epikarst lateral flow (SEF) from a newly exposed road-cut slope in a dolomite hillslope, with data collected across 156 rainfall events from May 2019 to May 2022.

Background: Nomograms are superior to traditional multivariate regression models in the competence of quantifying an individual's personalized risk of having a given condition. To date, no literature has been found to report a quantified risk prediction model for prenatal depression. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the prevalence and associated factors of prenatal depression.

Importance: Population mean levels of total cholesterol and fasting triglycerides have decreased substantially in the US in recent decades, but improvements in cardiometabolic health may have slowed among younger cohorts. Conversely, prevalence of diabetes (types 1 and 2) and obesity has increased, especially among adults younger than 65 years. It is unclear how trends in cholesterol, triglyceride, and glucose levels have changed across different birth cohorts and whether adverse trends in obesity are associated with these patterns.

Here, we use functional decomposition of satellite-derived SM and cloud vertical profiles (CVP) to quantify the relationship between SM and the vertical distribution of cloud water in the central US. High-dimensional model representation is used to disentangle the contributions of SM and other land-surface and atmospheric variables to the CVP.

Background: It is crucial to emphasize the necessity of annual COVID-19 vaccination, particularly for vulnerable populations like older and chronically ill individuals.
Objectives: This study aimed to quantify the level of vaccination acceptance and its 5C psychological antecedents in the South Korean and Chinese populations and also to identify the predictors, considering contextual variations that influence vaccine acceptance in both countries.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey study was undertaken in South Korea and China between March 15 and March 30, 2023, coinciding with the emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant in both nations.
