Laboratory X-ray diffractometers are among the most widespread instruments in research laboratories around the world and are commercially available in different configurations and setups from various manufacturers. Advances in detector technology and X-ray sources push the data quality of in-house diffractometers and enable the collection of time-resolved scattering data during experiments. Here, the design and installation of a custom-built multipurpose laboratory diffractometer for the crystallographic characterization of battery materials are reported. The instrument is based on a Huber six-circle diffractometer equipped with a molybdenum microfocus rotating anode with 2D collimated parallel-beam X-ray optics and an optional two-bounce crystal monochromator. Scattered X-rays are detected with a hybrid single-photon-counting area detector (PILATUS 300K-W). An overview of the different diffraction setups together with the main features of the beam characteristics is given. Example case studies illustrate the flexibility of the research instrument for time-resolved powder X-ray diffraction experiments as well as the possibility to collect higher-resolution data suitable for diffraction line-profile analysis.

Complex wound closure scenarios necessitate the development of advanced wound dressings that can effectively address the challenges of filling irregularly shaped wounds and managing fatigue failures encountered in daily patient activities. To tackle these issues, we develop a multifunctional hydrogel from natural polysaccharides and polypeptides with injectability and self-healing properties for promoting full-time and multipurpose wound healing. Synthesized through dynamic Schiff base linkages between oxidized hyaluronic acid (OHA), ε-polylysine (ε-PL), and quaternized chitosan (QCS), the OHA/ε-PL/QCS hydrogel can gel rapidly within 50 s.

Extracting lithium from salt lakes requires ion-selective membranes with customizable nanochannels. However, it remains a major challenge to separate alkali cations due to their same valences and similar ionic radius. Inspired by the K channel of KcsA K, significant progress has been made in adjusting nanochannel size to control the ion selectivity dominated by alkali cations dehydration.

Introduction: Hand grip strength (HGS) is an important measure in a physiotherapy assessment and for this purpose it is necessary to have valid and reliable instruments to measure it. In this study we aimed at investigating the reliability, validity, and agreement of the new hand-held dynamometer NOD (OT-Bioelettronica, To-Italy) compared to Jamar® hydraulic dynamometer (JD), the gold standard.
Methods: Fifty healthy subjects were selected; 9 trials for the dominant hand and 9 trials for the non-dominant hand were administrated to each of them: 3 trials of HGS with the JD in rung #3, 3 trials with the JD-adapted-grip (like the NOD one), and 3 trials with NOD.
Bur., a versatile plant with medicinal, edible, landscaping, and ecological applications, holds significant economic value and boasts a long-standing history of utilization in China. Despite its robust adaptability, rapid growth, and extensive distribution, the current research gap concerning the physiological mechanisms underlying stem cutting propagation hampers the development of efficient strategies for commercial-scale propagation of , particularly for large-scale cultivation.
