Cerebellar abscess is a reported complication of chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) and is life threatening at times. It usually develops by direct spread of CSOM through the bony erosion in the petrous bone or by thrombophlebitis of the sigmoid sinus. However, an alternative pathway of infection transmission from the petrous bone to the cerebellum through the anatomical bridge of the cranial nerves has possibly not been described before.

The secretion rate of albumin is a key indicator of function in liver tissue models used for hepatotoxicity and pharmacokinetic testing. However, it is not generally clear how to determine molecular secretion rates from measurements of the molecular concentration in supernatant media. Here, we develop computational and analytical models of molecular transport in an experimental system that enable determination of albumin secretion rates based on measurements of albumin concentration in supernatant media.

- This study examined sleep disturbances in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) by using wrist actigraphy and sleep diaries over 14 days to measure sleep-wake patterns and assess pain regulation mechanisms.
- Results showed that average sleep duration was around 7.6 hours, with certain sleep metrics like sleep fragmentation and wakefulness related to increased pain sensitivity, although these relations faded when controlling for factors like age and disease severity.
- The findings suggest that monitoring sleep through both objective (actigraphy) and subjective (diaries) methods is effective in RA patients, indicating a need for further research on the different aspects of sleep related to pain management.
Dacryoadenitis in the setting of linear scleroderma (LScs) is an association that has not previously been described in the scientific literature. The purpose of this case report is to describe the co-existence of LScs and chronic dacryoadenitis and how it was managed. We report the case of a 42-year-old woman who presented with a 4-month history of left upper eyelid swelling with radiological enlargement of the left lacrimal gland on orbital CT and MRI imaging.
