The atomic dispersion of a noble metal with a reducible support has been reported to be beneficial for catalytic hydrogenation reactions. Conversely, we found that Pt particles (3-5 nm) could be obtained on the non-reducible support AlO by weakening the interaction between the metal and support using oleic acid, and the turnover frequency of catalyzing the hydrogenation of chlorinated nitrobenzene could reach 3700 h, which is three orders of magnitude higher than that of atomic platinum species.

Designing catalysts for the selective reduction of CO, resulting in products having commercial value, is an important area of contemporary research. Several molecular catalysts have been reported to facilitate the reduction of CO (both electrochemical and photochemical) to yield 2e/2H electron-reduced products, CO and HCOOH, and selective reduction of CO beyond 2e/2H is rare. This is partly because the factors that control the selectivity of CO reduction beyond 2e are not yet understood.

Coastal/offshore renewable energy sources combined with seawater splitting offer an attractive means for large-scale H electrosynthesis in the future. However, designing anodes proves rather challenging, as surface chlorine chemistry must be blocked, particularly at high current densities (). Additionally, waste seawater with increased salinity produced after long-term electrolysis would impair the whole process sustainability.

This study investigates carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and chlorine isotope fractionation during the transformation of 3-chloroaniline (3-CA) via direct photolysis, TiO photocatalytic degradation at neutral condition and hydrolysis at pH 3, pH 7 and pH 11. Direct photolysis and ∙OH reaction (UV/HO) showed similar inverse isotope fractionation (ε) for carbon (1.9 ± 0.

Disinfection by-products (DBPs), formed from biofilm extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) and organic matter during regular disinfection practices in drinking water distribution systems, poses a potential threat to drinking water safety. However, the diverse DBP formations induced by the intertwined algal organic matter (AOM) and bacterial EPS remains elusive. In this study, we show substantial variations in EPS and DBP formation patterns driven by AOM biosorption with divalent ions (Ca and Mg).
