Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the anesthetic efficacy, duration of action, pain, and cardiovascular effects of dexmedetomidine when added to 2% lignocaine hydrochloride in bilateral symmetrical impacted third molars.

Materials And Methods: This study comprised of 40 healthy patients who required extraction of identical bilateral impacted lower third molars. The left side of the patients was designated as test side where patients received local anesthesia with lignocaine plus dexmedetomidine (2% lignocaine + dexmedetomidine 1 μ/ml), and the right side of the patients was designated as control side where patients received local anesthesia with lignocaine plus adrenaline (2% lignocaine in 1:80,000 adrenaline). Both surgical interventions were performed at two different appointments with a minimum time interval of 2 weeks. The time to onset and duration of action were noted as primary outcome variables, while the secondary outcome variables included pain and hemodynamic changes associated with dexmedetomidine if any.

Results: Onset of action of the local anesthesia was found to be faster in addition to having a relatively longer duration of action when the newer drug dexmedetomidine was added to lignocaine when compared with the conventional combination of lignocaine and adrenaline (< 0.05). There were no significant changes in the systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and heart rate from the baseline following the injection of dexmedetomidine.

Conclusion: The study demonstrated that the combination of dexmedetomidine with lignocaine enhances the local anesthetic potency of lignocaine without significant systemic effects when locally injected into oral mucosa.

Objectives: This study evaluates the potential of pulp volume/total tooth-volume measurements of canine teeth in relation to chronologic age in patients with cleft lip and palate (CLP). The significance of this study lies in its exploration of the usability of these measurements for age determination in CLP patients, providing a novel perspective to the existing literature.

Methods: Cone beam computed tomography images of 33 patients (16 females, 17 males) with unilateral CLP aged 14-45 years and 33 age- and sex-matched healthy individuals (16 females, 17 males) were retrospectively evaluated.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a significant public health concern, emphasizing the need for innovative therapeutic strategies to improve patient outcomes. This study aimed to develop a highly efficient nanocarrier for targeted drug delivery, enhancing drug efficacy while minimizing concentrations and limiting adverse effects. We synthesized protein-based β-lactoglobulin (βlg) nanoparticles (NPs), loaded with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and sodium butyrate (NaB), and further functionalized with folic acid (FA) for specific targeting of folate receptor-positive CRC cells.

Background And Study Aims: Spine surgeries are one of the most widely accepted method of surgery in orthopaedics. However, one of the most common complications of spine surgeries is surgical site infection (SSI), that associated with various post operative morbidities. The use of antibiotics impregnated bone cement (AIBC) is common in orthopaedics surgeries.
