The recently described Triatoma huehuetenanguensis, has been reported in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Honduras. In Mexico, the species has been collected primarily in rural areas; it has the potential to colonize human dwellings, however, its contribution to Chagas outbreaks remains unclear. In 2021, T. huehuetenanguensis was first observed at Tuxtla Gutierrez city, Chiapas; then a collection for the species was performed. A total of 308 houses were inspected in the intra and peridomestic structures. Only 3 houses (0.97%) were infested. Triatoma huehuetenangensis was the only triatomine specie recorded and four males were collected. None of the bugs tested positive for Trypanosoma infection. We do not have evidence to suggest that urban human-vector contact still limited, and a possible domestication process is possible. The presence of reservoirs, the vector species and the parasite demonstrate that Tuxtla Gutierrez could be at risk of a Chagas disease outbreak.

This study evaluated how healthy lifestyle motivators (MHLs) influence the Peruvian market's willingness to consume healthy food (WCHBF). The main objective was to analyze the relationship of variables, such as attitude (ATT), perceived behavioral control (PBC), self-identity (SI), and moral norms (MN) with the WCHBF. This study adopted a quantitative, non-experimental, and cross-sectional approach, using a self-administered questionnaire for data collection.

The hydration shell of a protein is so important and an integral part of it, that protein's structure, stability and functionality cannot be conceived in its absence. This layer has unique properties not found in bulk water. However, ions, always present in the protein environment, disturb the hydration shell depending on their nature and concentration.

Historical (1960 - 2011) and spatial analysis of mercury and arsenic in two species of tropical birds in southeastern Mexico.

J Hazard Mater

December 2024

Instituto EPOMEX, Universidad Autónoma de Campeche, Av. Héroe de Nacozari No. 480, San Francisco de Campeche, Campeche 24070, Mexico. Electronic address:

Spatiotemporal variation in the concentrations of mercury (Hg) and arsenic (As) in body feathers of Red-throated Ant-Tanager (Driophlox fuscicauda) and Clay-colored thrush (Turdus grayi) were evaluated. Body feathers were obtained from scientific collections (specimens collected from 1960 to 2011) in Mexico. Trace elements concentrations were determined by voltammetry through acid digestion.

Plant Stress Detection Using a Three-Dimensional Analysis from a Single RGB Image.

Plant stress detection involves the process of Identification, Classification, Quantification, and Prediction (ICQP) in crop stress. Numerous approaches exist for plant stress identification; however, a majority rely on expert personnel or invasive techniques. While expert employees demonstrate proficiency across various plants, this approach demands a substantial workforce to ensure the quality of crops.

Background: Endovascular therapy with balloon percutaneous angioplasty (PTA) in the femoro-popliteal segment is frequently performed, however, long-term favorable outcomes and patency remain challenging, with restenosis rates reaching 60% post-standard balloon angioplasty. Drug-coated balloons (DCBs) have shown promise in improving these outcomes; Paclitaxel, used in DCBs, inhibits hyperplasia and smooth muscle cell proliferation, reducing restenosis; however, the optimal dose of Paclitaxel remains unclear, with high-dose (HD-DCB [>3 mg/mm]) and low-dose (LD-DCB [<2.0 mg/mm]) options available.
