High concentrations of neutrophil degranulation products in the plasma and thrombi are poor prognostic indicators in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). This study aimed to identify candidate effectors capable of mediating neutrophil degranulation post-AIS, and to reveal their underlying epigenetic mechanisms. Microarrays and ChIP-seq were applied to analyze the neutrophils of patients with AIS.

Brain-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) have been demonstrated to be implicated in AD pathogenesis by facilitating the propagation of Tau, amyloid-β and inflammatory cytokines. However, the impact of peripheral EVs (pEVs) in AD pathogenesis remains poorly investigated.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLipid droplets (LDs) are organelles that store and supply lipids based on cellular needs. While mechanisms preventing oxidative damage to membrane phospholipids are established, the vulnerability of LD neutral lipids to peroxidation and protective mechanisms are unknown. Here, we identify LD-localized Ferroptosis Suppressor Protein 1 (FSP1) as a critical regulator that prevents neutral lipid peroxidation by recycling coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) to its lipophilic antioxidant form.

Bone defects that exceed the critical defect value, resulting from fractures and diseases, are often difficult to heal. Although bone tissue engineering is a promising treatment for extensive osseous defects, orthopedic-implant-related infections increase the likelihood of failure. Bioactive glass (BG) has been widely used in the manufacture of artificial bone scaffolds, owing to its excellent biocompatibility and osteoinductivity.

Current antiviral therapy for the chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) has a low clinical cure rate, high administration frequency, and limited efficacy in reducing HBsAg levels, leading to poor patient compliance. Novel agents are required to achieve HBV functional cure, and reduction of HBV antigenemia may enhance the activation of effective and long-lasting host immune control. HT-101 is a siRNA currently in phase I clinical trials with promising prospects for future applications.
