Diabetes is characterized by increased fracture risk. Evidence from studies is lacking for anti-fracture strategies in diabetes. Our microarray analyses predicted association of Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) with both diabetes and osteoporosis, which was the focus of this work in a murine model of type II diabetic osteoporosis (T2DOP). A T2DOP model with fracture was established in TLR9 knockout (TLR9) mice, which were then treated with the NF-κB signaling pathway inhibitor (PDTC) and activator (TNF-α). The obtained data suggested that TLR9 knockout augmented regeneration of bone tissues and cartilage area in the callus, and diminished fibrous tissues in T2DOP mice. Moreover, TLR9 depletion significantly affected bone mineral density (BMD), bone volume/tissue volume (BV/TV), connectivity density, trabecular number, trabecular separation and trabecular thickness, thus promoting fracture recovery. Bone morphology and structure were also improved in response to TLR9 depletion in T2DOP mice. TLR9 depletion inactivated NF-κB signaling in T2DOP mice. PDTC was found to enhance fracture healing in T2DOP mice, while TNF-α negated this effect. Collectively, these data indicate that TLR9 depletion may hold anti-fracture properties, making it a potential therapeutic target for T2DOP. Background & Aim: Sternotomy remains a commonly used technique to access the heart for cardiac surgery worldwide. To date, there is no clear consensus on the single superior sternal closure technique. Patient-specific factors such as osteoporosis, diabetes, old age, body habitus influence a surgeon's choice in this matter as do techniques commonly used during the training period and used in the current workplace.

Introduction: Bone homeostasis between osteoclast bone resorption and osteoblastic bone formation is tightly regulated by a series of factors such as the receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL). Denosumab that neutralizes RANKL is effective and widely applied in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. However, factors that participated in the RANKL-related bone remodeling process in primary and secondary osteoporosis are less known.

Aim: To systematically review the prevalence and incidence of osteoporosis, osteopenia, low bone mass, and fragility fracture in adults with cerebral palsy (CP), and identify the risk factors for osteoporosis and fracture.
Method: A systematic literature search was performed in the MEDLINE, PubMed, CINAHL, AMED, Cochrane Reviews, EMBASE, and EBM database reviews from inception until May 2024. Search terms covered a combination of keywords for CP, fracture, osteoporosis, incidence and prevalence, and risk factors.

The relationship between psoriasis and osteopenia remains undetermined. Patients with psoriasis tend to have a higher Body Mass Index (BMI) compared to those without the condition. While it appears plausible that BMI could mediate this association, further study is required to confirm this hypothesis.

Objectives: This study aimed to describe the characteristics, inflammatory markers as surrogates for disease activity, and treatment of patients with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) in Japan.
Methods: This cohort study analysed the data of 373 patients with PMR retrieved from an electronic medical records database in Japan. Patients were classified into quartiles, based on the daily glucocorticoid dose over the initial 90 days of treatment (Q1-Q4).
