Background: The extracellular vesicles (EVs) secreted by adipose tissue-derived stromal cells (ASC) are microenvironment modulators in tissue regeneration by releasing their molecular cargo, including miRNAs. However, the influence of ASC-derived extracellular vesicles (ASC-EVs) on endothelial cells (ECs) and vascularisation is poorly understood. The present study aimed to determine the pro-angiogenic effects of ASC-EVs and explore their miRNA profile.

RNA vaccines based on lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) with transcribed mRNA (IVT-mRNA) encapsulated are now a currently successful but still evolving modality of vaccines. One of the advantages of RNA vaccines is their ability to induce CD8 T-cell-mediated cellular immunity that is indispensable for excluding pathogen-infected cells or cancer cells from the body. In this study, we report on the development of LNPs with an enhanced capability for inducing cellular immunity by using an ionizable lipid with a vitamin E scaffold.

Receptor interacting protein kinase 1 (RIPK1) is a cytosolic multidomain protein that controls cell life and death. While RIPK1 promotes cell death through its kinase activity, it also functions as a scaffold protein to promote cell survival by inhibiting FADD-caspase 8-dependent apoptosis and RIPK3-MLKL-dependent necroptosis. This pro-survival function is highlighted by excess cell death and perinatal lethality in Ripk1 mice.

Osteochondral defects in joints require surgical intervention to relieve pain and restore function. However, no current treatment enables a complete reconstitution of the articular surface. It is known that both mechanical and biological factors play a key role on osteochondral defect healing, however the underlying principles and how they can be used in the design of treatment strategies remain largely unknown.
