This paper describes the development of a voltammetric assay of insulin using a DNA immobilized onto a carbon nanotube paste electrode (CNPE), the peak potential of which was 0.2 V, vs. Ag/AgCl on the CNPE. The cyclic voltammetry (CV) and square-wave (SW) stripping voltammetry parameters of the optimized conditions were determined. Low analytical working ranges of 10-80 ugL CV and 0.01-0.1 ngL SW were attained. The precision of the insulin concentration of 0.01 ugL was 0.14 (n = 15) RSD using the optimum conditions, in which the detection limit was 0.004 ngL (6.9 × 10 M) (S/N = 3) using only an accumulation time of 400 s. The developed method was applied to determine insulin in a pharmacy drug from analytical-grade chemicals (from Aldrich).

Pancreatic β-cell damage is a critical pathological mechanism in the progression of obese type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, the exact underlying mechanism remains unclear. We established an obese T2DM mouse model via high-fat diet feeding.

Background: Obesity plays a crucial role in the development of metabolic disorders including diabetes, coronary and renal diseases. There are several factors involved in the pathology of obesity, including chronic inflammation and exposure to environmental contaminants. Recently, the cholinergic co-hydrolyzing enzyme BChE has been associated with clinical conditions such as diabetes and obesity.

Background: Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) can enter patients' circulation through exogenous sources, such as enteral nutrition formulae. Circulating AGEs, specifically carboxymethyllysine, can promote insulin resistance and activation of pro-inflammatory pathways leading to oxidative stress, cell death, and organ failure. Suboptimal kidney function increases the risk of elevated circulating AGEs because levels are controlled through urinary excretion.

Objective: To investigate the association between the cumulative exposure to triglyceride-glucose index (cumTyG index) and fragility fractures in the general population.
Methods: This prospective cohort study analyzed active and retired employees of Kailuan Group who participated in three consecutive health examinations in 2006, 2008 and 2010, and were followed up until 31st December 2022. The cohort comprised 55,824 participants who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were grouped using the cumTyG index quartiles.

Background: Diabetes affects half of the patients with cystic fibrosis who are aged 30 years and older. Diabetes progresses asymptomatically over a long period of time. Two treatment options are possible: start insulin as soon as cystic fibrosis diagnosis is made with the additional constraints of cystic fibrosis or wait while monitoring the patient's clinical condition and start insulin when diabetes symptoms develop and therefore later.
