Titanium dioxide nanotubes incorporated into conventional glass ionomer cement alter the biological behavior of pre-odontoblastic cells.

Colloids Surf B Biointerfaces

February 2025

Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic (SLMANDIC), Rua José Rocha Junqueira 13, Swift, Campinas, SP 13045-755, Brazil; Department of Comprehensive Dentistry, University of Maryland, School of Dentistry, 650 W Baltimore St., Baltimore, MD 21201, USA. Electronic address:

The objective was to address the repercussion of adding titanium dioxide nanotubes (TiO-nt) into high-viscosity conventional glass ionomer cement (GIC) on the biological properties of pre-odontoblastic cells (MDPC-23) challenged by lipopolysaccharides (LPS - 2 μg/mL). TiO-nt was added to Ketac Molar EasyMix at 3, 5, 7 %, whereas unblended GIC served as control. Analyses included proliferation (n=6; 24, 48, 72 h), metabolism (MTT; n=6; 24, 48, 72 h); morphology laser microscopy (n=3; 24, 48, 72 h); proteome assessments IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, VEGF, TNF-α (n=3; 12, 18 h); mRNA levels (RT-PCR) of Il-1β, Il-6, Il-10, VEGF, TNF-α (n=3; 12, 18 h) and DSPP (n=3; 24, 72, 120 h).

Proteomic Insights Into Gingival Crevicular Extracellular Vesicles in Periodontitis and Gestational Diabetes: An Exploratory Study.

J Clin Periodontol

November 2024

Department of Oral Pathology and Conservative Dentistry, Periodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Universidad de Los Andes, Santiago, Chile.

Aim: To characterize the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) and plasma extracellular vesicles (EVs) and explore their proteomic cargo in healthy pregnant women compared to those with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and periodontitis.

Methods: One-hundred and four pregnant women were recruited at 24-30 gestation weeks. GDM was diagnosed by an oral glucose tolerance test.

Inflammation proteomic profiling of psychosis in young adults: Findings from the ALSPAC birth cohort.

Psychoneuroendocrinology

Psychotic disorder is associated with altered levels of various inflammatory markers in blood, but existing studies have typically focused on a few selected biomarkers, have not examined specific symptom domains notably negative symptoms, and are based on individuals with established/chronic illness. Based on data from young people aged 24 years from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC), a UK birth cohort, we have examined the associations of 67 plasma immune/inflammatory proteins assayed using the Olink Target 96 Inflammation panel with psychotic disorder, positive (any psychotic experiences and definite psychotic experiences) and negative symptoms, using linear models with empirical Bayes estimation. The analyses included between 2317 and 2854 individuals.

Deciphering heart failure: an integrated proteomic and transcriptomic approach with experimental validation.

Funct Integr Genomics

October 2024

Department of Cardiology, Ganzhou Hospital of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Ganzhou Municipal Hospital (Gannan Medical University Affiliated Municipal Hospital), 49 Dagong Road, 341000, Ganzhou, China.

This study analyzed transcriptomic and proteomic data to identify molecular changes during heart failure (HF). Additionally,we embarked on an exploration of the prospect of therapeutic intervention through the manipulation of proteins implicated in ferroptosis. Three publicly available microarray datasets (GSE135055, GSE147236, GSE161472) profiling left ventricular samples from HF patients and healthy controls were obtained.

Many foods including edible oils contain 2-monochloropropane-1,3-diol (2-MCPD), a processing-induced chemical contaminant. Cardiotoxic effects have been shown to result from oral 2-MCPD exposure in rodents, but the underlying mechanisms of action remain poorly understood. We undertook a comprehensive multi-omics approach to assess changes at the transcriptomic, proteomic, and oxylipin levels in heart tissues from male F344 rats that were exposed to 0 or 40 mg/kg BW/day of 2-MCPD in the diet for 90 days, in a regulatory compliant rodent bioassay.
