Improving the ergonomy of working environments is essential to reducing work-related musculo-skeletal disorders. We consider real-time ergonomic feedback a key technology for achieving such improvements. To this end, we present supportive tools for online evaluation and visualization of strenuous efforts and postures of a worker, also when physically interacting with a robot. A digital human model is used to estimate human kinematics and dynamics and visualize non-ergonomic joint angles, based on the on-line data acquired from a wearable motion tracking device.

To investigate the relationships and impacts between various occupational ergonomic hazards and hand and wrist fatigue, as well as work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) of the hand and wrist, and to propose targeted preventive and intervention measures for adverse occupational ergonomic factors causing WMSDs of the hand and wrist. From 2018 to December 2023, a nationwide epidemiologic survey study of wrist WMSDs was conducted using the Chinese version of the electronic questionnaire system for musculoskeletal disorders.A total of 88, 609 valid questionnaires were collected.

OCCUPATIONAL APPLICATIONSWe investigated the impact of using Mixed Reality (MR) technology as a training tool to help trainees identify safety risks during machine assembly tasks, by analyzing their task completion efficiency and safety risk estimation capabilities. As proof-of-concept, an interactive MR module on hydraulic gripper assembly was designed and incorporated in fluid power laboratories to be tested with mechanical engineering technology students. The developed MR environment was evaluated using accident causation models.

Road traffic crashes (RTCs) disproportionately impact low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Current interventions in LMICs primarily target road user behavior, neglecting systemic issues and casting drivers as mere contributors. Given Iran's unique cultural, financial, and social intricacies, this study aims to explore the latent causes of RTCs, prioritizing drivers' experiences and encompassing insights from various traffic system components.
