Welding Characteristics of Medium Titanium Plates with Autogenous Laser Welding and Narrow-Gap Laser Filling Welding Modes.

Materials (Basel)

September 2024

Hunan Xiangtou Goldsky Titanium Metal Co., Ltd., Changsha 410083, China.

Titanium and titanium alloys with a medium thickness of 5 to 12 mm are widely used for ocean platforms, military equipment and in other fields because of their light weight, appropriate strength and corrosion resistance. In this study, autogenous laser welding and narrow-gap laser welding processes were researched and compared, and the welding characteristics, weld microstructure and joint strength were analyzed. The results showed that autogenous laser welding had higher efficiency, narrower weld width and higher microstructure uniformity.

Background: Dialysis modalities and their various treatment schedules result from complex compromises ('trade-offs') between medical, financial, technological, ergonomic, and ecological factors. This study targets summarizing the mutual influence of these trade-offs on (trans)portable, wearable, or even (partially) implantable haemodialysis (HD) systems, identify what systems are in development, and how they might improve quality of life (QoL) for patients with kidney failure.

Methods: HD as defined by international standard IEC 60601-2-16 was applied on a PUBMED database query regarding (trans)portable, wearable, and (partly) implantable HD systems.

Franseen needle in endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration: a phase II prospective study.

Jpn J Clin Oncol

September 2024

Department of Respirology, Graduate School of Medicine, Chiba University, 1-8-1 Inohana, Chuo-Ku, Chiba, Japan.

Background: Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) has been used to diagnose and stage lung cancer. Acquire™ Pulmonary and Expect™ Pulmonary dedicated EBUS-TBNA needles were introduced as the Franseen and Lancet needles, respectively. It is still unclear whether the Franseen or Lancet needles yield a higher quality specimen especially focusing on next-generation sequencing-based molecular testing.

Background And Aims: The optimal number of passes to maximize the diagnostic ability of EUS fine-needle biopsy (FNB) of solid pancreatic masses (SPMs) is not well known. We conducted a systematic review to evaluate the impact of the incremental number of passes on diagnostic accuracy, tissue adequacy, and diagnostic yield for EUS-FNB of SPMs.

Methods: We searched MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane Central for randomized controlled trials comparing per-pass diagnostic outcomes of FNB needles in patients with SPMs.

The advent of computed tomography (CT)-guided transthoracic needle biopsy has significantly advanced the diagnosis of lung lesions, offering a minimally invasive approach to obtaining tissue samples. However, the technique is not without risks, including pneumothorax and hemorrhage, and it demands high precision to ensure diagnostic accuracy while minimizing complications. This study introduces the Laser Angle Guide Assembly (LAGA), a novel device designed to enhance the accuracy and safety of CT-guided lung biopsies.
