Outflow graft obstruction is a potentially catastrophic complication of left ventricular assist devices that may occur secondary to different mechanisms. Two cases of Heartmate 3 outflow graft obstruction associated with two different pathophysiological mechanisms are presented. The first one was a 70-year-old man who developed outflow graft obstruction secondary to kinking. The second case was a 72-year-old man who presented with signs and symptoms of heart failure due to outflow graft extrinsic obstruction. Both cases were diagnosed with 3D-CT scan and successfully surgically treated.

Pyogenic flexor tenosynovitis (PFT), also known as septic or suppurative flexor tenosynovitis, is a closed-space infection of the hand's flexor tendon sheath that necessitates timely diagnosis and treatment. The treatment consists of antibiotic therapy often combined with prompt surgical treatment. The most common surgical approach is the closed irrigation technique, which involves inserting a 16-gauge angiocatheter in the proximal aspect of the flexor tendon sheath, leaving the distal end of the Brunner incision open during the irrigation process.

Although living donor liver transplantation has evolved, small-for-size syndrome remains a feared complication. Achieving optimal outflow for the graft with limited donor risk is possible with an experienced team and different techniques. Here we describe the technical aspects of living donor liver transplantation using a right lobe graft, including the different types of grafts, venous reconstructions and the importance of preoperative workup.

Hypothermic oxygenated machine perfusion (HOPE) has emerged as a critical innovation in liver transplantation (LTx), offering significant protection against ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). This study focuses on quantifying and characterizing immune cells flushed out during HOPE to explore its effects on graft function and post-transplant outcomes. Fifty liver grafts underwent end-ischemic HOPE.

The HeartMate 3 (HM3, Abbott) left ventricular assist device (LVAD) is the only commercially available option considered suitable for long-term circulatory support. External compression of the outflow graft causing obstruction (eOGO) is a serious adverse event affecting patients on long-term support. The obstruction occurs due to the accumulation of gelatinous substance between the bend relief and outflow graft.

Purpose: The AVeNEW Post-Approval Study (AVeNEW PAS) follows upon results from the AVeNEW IDE clinical trial and was designed to provide additional clinical evidence of safety and effectiveness using the Covera™ Vascular Covered Stent to treat arteriovenous fistula (AVF) stenoses in a real-world hemodialysis patient population.
Materials And Methods: One hundred AVF patients were prospectively enrolled at 11 clinical trial sites in the USA and treated with the covered stent after angioplasty of a clinically significant target stenosis. The primary safety outcome was freedom from any adverse event that suggests the involvement of the AV access circuit evaluated at 30 days.
