Ten parameters extracted from six currently used parametrizations of the four-parameter logistic model, and one new proposal, were examined for their statistical behavior in nonlinear least-squares estimation in combination with ELISA and RIA data. Those which are adequately near-linear on the basis of the Lowry-Morton lambda statistic were identified and can be recommended for use in practice.

In general, small stream basins, characterized by narrow channels and steep slopes, face heightened vulnerability to climate change-induced flooding, posing challenges for evacuation procedures. With the increasing intensity of floods and typhoons in recent years, urgent measures are necessary to mitigate damage in such areas. This research endeavors to address these challenges by developing a novel small stream flood early warning system (SSFEWS) tailored to small streams and piloting its application.

The aim of this study was to develop a model to predict individual subject disease trajectories including parameter uncertainty and accounting for missing data in rare neurological diseases, showcased by the ultra-rare disease Autosomal-Recessive Spastic Ataxia Charlevoix Saguenay (ARSACS). We modelled the change in SARA (Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia) score versus Time Since Onset of symptoms using non-linear mixed effect models for a population of 173 patients with ARSACS included in the prospective real-world multicenter Autosomal Recessive Cerebellar Ataxia (ARCA) registry. We used the Multivariate Imputation Chained Equation (MICE) algorithm to impute missing covariates, and a covariate selection procedure with a pooled p-value to account for the multiply imputed data sets.

Combining the high sensitivity and specificity of fluorescence immunoassay (FIA), developing a low-cost and efficient immunoassay system for AFP detection holds significant importance in disease diagnosis. In this work, we developed a miniaturized oblique laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) immunoassay system, coupled with a microfluidic PMMA/paper hybrid chip, for rapid detection of AFP.

Background: Clot based assays used for lupus anticoagulant (LAC) detection are typically interpreted in a qualitative fashion and may not reflect LAC potency. In this cross-sectional study, we describe a method for quantifying the LAC titer using serial (dependent) two-fold dilutions in normal pooled plasma.
Methods: Serial dilutions of 51 residual plasma samples from 50 patients were tested using the Russell's viper venom screening time (DRVVT) and activated partial thromboplastin screening time (APTT) methodologies.
