Understanding the linear response of any system is the first step towards analyzing its linear and nonlinear dynamics, stability properties, as well as its behavior in the presence of noise. In non-Hermitian Hamiltonian systems, calculating the linear response is complicated due to the non-orthogonality of their eigenmodes, and the presence of exceptional points (EPs). Here, we derive a closed form series expansion of the resolvent associated with an arbitrary non-Hermitian system in terms of the ordinary and generalized eigenfunctions of the underlying Hamiltonian. This in turn reveals an interesting and previously overlooked feature of non-Hermitian systems, namely that their lineshape scaling is dictated by how the input (excitation) and output (collection) profiles are chosen. In particular, we demonstrate that a configuration with an EP of order M can exhibit a Lorentzian response or a super-Lorentzian response of order M with M = 2, 3, …, M, depending on the choice of input and output channels.

Background: Tinnitus is a major health issue, but currently no tinnitus elimination treatments exist for chronic subjective tinnitus. Acoustic therapy, especially personalized acoustic therapy, plays an increasingly important role in tinnitus treatment. With the application of smartphones, personalized acoustic stimulation combined with smartphone apps will be more conducive to the individualized treatment and management of patients with tinnitus.

Differences in habitat use impose ecological constraints which in turn lead to functional and morphological differences through adaptation. In fact, a convergent evolutionary pattern is evident when species exhibit similar responses to similar environments. In this study we examine how habitat use influences the evolution of body shape in lizards from the family Lacertidae.

Background: Neuroblastoma (NB) is a highly heterogeneous and common pediatric malignancy with a poor prognosis. Ferroptosis, an iron-dependent cell death pathway, may play a crucial role in NB tumor progression and immune response. This study aimed to investigate ferroptosis in NB to identify potential therapeutic targets and develop predictive models for prognosis and recurrence.

Introduction: Greater white matter hyperintensities (WMHs) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are seen with transactive response DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) pathology in frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD-TDP). WMH associations with TDP-43 pathology in Alzheimer's disease (AD-TDP) remain unclear.
Methods: A total of 157 participants from Mayo Clinic Rochester with autopsy-confirmed AD, known TDP-43 status, and antemortem fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) MRI were included.

Background: Osteoporosis (OP) is a metabolic bone disease producing reduction in bone mass with consequent bone fragility. Circular ribonucleic acid (CircRNA) is a form of RNA that forms a loop structure rather than a linear one. CircRNA can be used for therapeutic purposes, including molecular targets or to test new therapies.
