The first total synthesis of coryaurone A, which was originally obtained from L, was achieved via an efficient route with the longest linear sequence of six steps from the commercially available 6-hydroxy-2-benzofuran-3-one in 37% overall yield. A series of representative analogues were synthesized from the same starting material in 4-7 steps with overall yields of 27-56%. The cytotoxicities of these compounds against the leukemia cell line HL-60 and the colon cancer cell line SW480 were determined. Among them, compounds , , , and exhibited different levels of cytotoxic activity, which were greater than the positive control cisplatin.

The natural Z-scheme of oxygenic photosynthesis efficiently drives electron transfer from photosystem II (PSII) to photosystem I (PSI) via an electron transport chain, despite the lower energy levels of PSII. Inspired by this sophisticated mechanism, we present a layered cascade bio-solar cell (CBSC) that emulates the Z-scheme. In this design, chlorophyll derivatives (Chl) act as PSI analogs, while bacteriochlorophyll derivatives (BChl) serve as PSII analogs in the active layer.

Numerous research studies have delved into the potential effect of LASER therapy on alleviating pain associated with plantar fasciitis. However, the distinct effects of both High Intensity and Low Intensity LASER therapy (HILT/LILT) on addressing plantar fasciitis pain have not been thoroughly investigated. This systematic review seeks to provide a comprehensive summary of the present body of literature regarding the use of LASER therapy in managing pain related to plantar fasciitis.

Converting CO2 to high-value fine chemicals represents one of the most promising approaches to combat global warming and subsequently achieve a sustainable carbon cycle. Herein, we contribute an organoboron functionalized ultra-thin metal-organic nanosheet (MON), termed TCPB-Zr-NS, featuring an abundance of exposed Lewis acidic B and formate sites, which can effectively promote CO2 conversion upon the addition of Lewis basic o-phenylenediamines. Compared with the prototypical 3D analogue TCPB-Zr-3D, the resultant TCPB-Zr-NS showcases dramatically improved catalytic activity for the cyclization of o-phenylenediamine as a result of the highly exposed active sites and efficient substrates/products diffusion.

The standard explanation of meta-analogical transfer posits that the predicate mappings generated during a first analogy episode get reused during subsequent instances of analogical reasoning. As this account fails to predict the empirical result that only mappings between similar concepts get reliably transferred, other psychological mechanisms seem to be at play. Across three experiments, we obtained evidence suggesting that the carry-over of visuo-spatial schemas can also be involved in meta-analogical transfer.

Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a healthcare burden affecting over 595 million people worldwide. Recently, intra-articular platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections from the patient's blood have shown promise in slowing KOA progression due to platelets' regenerative properties. This study aimed to evaluate the optimal dosing and schedule for PRP therapy in managing mild to moderate KOA.
