Protein hydrolysis targeted chimeras (PROTACs) represent a different therapeutic approach, particularly relevant for overcoming challenges associated with traditional small molecule inhibitors. These challenges include targeting difficult proteins that are often deemed "undruggable" and addressing issues of acquired resistance. PROTACs employ the body's own E3 ubiquitin ligases to induce the degradation of specific proteins of interest (POIs) through the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.

Full-arch implant rehabilitation in extremely atrophic edentulous mandibles is still challenging due to the high risk of fracture and the limited bone availability. The approach proposes using short implants with immediate loading for final prostheses as a treatment option, which offers shorter treatment times and fewer invasive procedures. A 66-year-old female patient with an edentulous mandible and severe alveolar bone resorption was treated with four short implants in the interforaminal area.

Background: Open and crushed forearm injury is a complex and rare injury affecting the upper extremity. It results in damage to various structures, including bones, soft tissues, and neurovascular bundles, ultimately leading to functional impairment. Typically, these injuries occur owing to high-energy trauma.

Multiomics integration and machine learning reveal prognostic programmed cell death signatures in gastric cancer.

Sci Rep

December 2024

Clinical Teaching Hospital of Medical School, Nanjing Children's Hospital, Nanjing University, Nanjing, 210008, China.

Gastric cancer (GC) is characterized by notable heterogeneity and the impact of molecular subtypes on treatment and prognosis. The role of programmed cell death (PCD) in cellular processes is critical, yet its specific function in GC is underexplored. This study applied multiomics approaches, integrating transcriptomic, epigenetic, and somatic mutation data, with consensus clustering algorithms to classify GC molecular subtypes and assess their biological and immunological features.

Three-dimensional digital model of the facial nerve assisted in the excision of benign parotid tumors based on 3D-DESS-WE-MRI.

Sci Rep

Department of Stomatology, Henan Provincial People's Hospital, People's Hospital of Zhengzhou University, Henan University People's Hospital, #7 Wei Wu Road, Zhengzhou, 450003, Henan, China.

This study proposes a novel surgical technique for the excision of benign parotid tumors, utilizing a extracapsular dissection guided by a three dimensional digital model of the facial nerve(3DFN-ECD) and compares its clinical efficacy with the extracapsular dissection (ECD) method. This prospective study included 68 patients with benign parotid tumors. The control group (40 patients) received the ECD treatment, while the experimental group (28 patients), underwent the 3DFN-ECD approach proposed in this study.
