Purpose: To investigate the deficits in contrast sensitivity in patients with Fuchs uveitis syndrome (FUS) and to explore the potential relationship between contrast sensitivity and ocular structure.
Methods: In this prospective study, 25 patients with FUS and 30 healthy volunteers were recruited. Eyes were divided into three groups: FUS-affected eyes (AE), fellow eyes (FE), and healthy eyes. The contrast sensitivity function (CSF) of all participants was evaluated using the quick CSF (qCSF) method. Fundus photographs were collected for the analysis of refractive media, and vascular density (VD) was assessed using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). Data were analyzed and compared using the generalized estimating equation (GEE).
Results: The CSF of AE was significantly lower than that of FE and controls, while no significant difference was observed between FE and controls. Contrast sensitivity was negatively correlated with the grade of haze. No significant correlation was found between visual function and VDs in FUS eyes.
Conclusions: We found that the CSF of FUS-affected eyes was significantly reduced, and the visual impairment was predominantly caused by the refractive media turbidity.

Cystic Echinococcosis (CE) is a zoonotic disease caused by sensu lato. Diagnosing CE primarily relies on imaging techniques, and there is a crucial need for an objective laboratory test to enhance the diagnostic process. Today, cell-free DNAs (cfDNAs) have gained importance regarding their biomarker potential.

Resistance to epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) is the main cause of mortality in lung cancer. This study aimed to investigate the roles of neuropilin 1 (NRP1) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). NRP1 expression was assessed in tumor tissues from patients with osimertinib-resistant (OR) NSCLC and osimertinib-responsive NSCLC as well as in patients with paracancerous NSCLC tissues who did not undergo radiotherapy or chemotherapy.

Breast cancer is one of the malignant tumors that seriously threaten women's health, and early diagnosis and detection of breast cancer are crucial for effective treatment. Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is an important diagnostic tool that allows for the dynamic observation of blood flow characteristics of breast tumors, including small lesions within the affected tissue. Currently, it is widely used in clinical practice and has been shown promising prospects.

The brain must rely on population representations to disentangle changes in one dimension from changes in another. To understand how the visual system might extract separable stimulus representations, we recorded multiunit neuronal responses to texture images varying along two dimensions: contrast, a property represented as early as the retina, and naturalistic statistical structure, a property that modulates neuronal responses in V2 and V4, but not in V1.

Climate change poses direct and indirect threats to public health, including exacerbating air pollution. However, the influence of rising temperature on air quality remains highly uncertain in the United States, particularly under rapid reduction in anthropogenic emissions. Here, we examined the sensitivity of surface-level fine particulate matter (PM) and ozone (O) to summer temperature anomalies in the contiguous US as well as their decadal changes using high-resolution datasets generated by machine learning.
