Purpose: The relationship between retinal morphology, as assessed by optical coherence tomography (OCT), and retinal function in microperimetry (MP) has not been well studied, despite its increasing importance as an essential functional endpoint for clinical trials and emerging therapies in retinal diseases. Normative databases of healthy ageing eyes are largely missing from literature.
Methods: Healthy subjects above 50 years were examined using two MP devices, MP-3 (NIDEK) and MAIA (iCare).

Introduction: Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases continue to pose a severe threat to public health in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and globally. Community-related interventions, such as community e-Health literacy, can contribute to the preparedness to respond effectively to emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. This study investigated the relationship between e-Health literacy and SSA countries' perceptions of the importance of readiness for potential pandemics.

Background: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a significant factor causing blindness in adults. However, the clinical diagnosis of AMD is relatively challenging, due to the shortcomings of the existing clinical examination methods and the latent period of retinal damage before macular degeneration becomes apparent. This study aims to explore the potential of extracellular vesicles (EVs) protein chips for early diagnosis of AMD using patients' plasma samples.

Purpose: To describe a novel surgical approach for treating patients diagnosed with severe idiopathic epiretinal membranes (iERM) featuring ectopic intrafoveal layers (EIFL).
Method: A retrospective, interventional case series was conducted involving eight cases of iERM with EIFL. The technique involved a 27-gauge vitrectomy, removal of all vitreous adhesions, and injection of approximately 100μl sub-retinal balanced salt solution (BSS) using a 41-gauge subretinal needle, creating 3-4 localized bleb-like elevations around the folded retina to loosen it.
