Two carbon composite materials were prepared by mixing avocado biochar and methyl polysiloxane (MK). Firstly, MK was dissolved in ethanol, and then the biochar was added at different times. In sample 1 (R1), the time of adding biochar was immediately after dissolving MK in ethanol, and in sample 2 (R), after 48 h of MK dissolved in ethanol. The samples were characterized by nitrogen adsorption/desorption measurements obtaining specific surface areas (S) of 115 m2 g (R) and 580 m2 g (R). The adsorbents were further characterized using scanning electron microscopy, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy, adsorption of vapors of n-heptane and water, thermal analysis, Bohem titration, pHpzc, and C H N elemental analysis. R and R adsorbents were employed as adsorbents to remove the antibiotic ciprofloxacin from the waters. The t and t based on the interpolation of Avrami fractional-order were 20.52 and 246.4 min (R) and 14.00 and 157.6 min (R), respectively. Maximum adsorption capacities (Q) based on the Liu isotherm were 10.77 (R) and 63.80 mg g (R) for ciprofloxacin. The thermodynamic studies showed a spontaneous and exothermic process for both samples, and the value of ΔH° is compatible with physical adsorption.

The specific spatiotemporal distribution of diverse components in tumor microenvironment plays a crucial role in the cancer progression.three-dimensional (3D) tumor models with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) based microfluidic platform have been applied as useful tool to conduct studies from cancer biology to drug screening. However, PDMS has not been welcomed as a standardized commercial application for preclinical screening due to inherent limitations in scale-up production and molecule absorption.

The discharge of oily wastewater not only pollutes waters but also deteriorates our living environment. Superhydrophobic cotton fabric is considered as an important remedy material for oily wastewater cleanup due to outstanding advantages including low cost, high porosity and switchable wettability. However, the existing superhydrophobic fabrics cannot exhibit durable superhydrophobicity during real-life applications due to poor interaction between the coatings and fabric substrates.

This study reports the development of the first copolymer material that (i) is resistant to fungal attachment and hence biofilm formation, (ii) operates via a nonkilling mechanism, i.e., avoids the use of antifungal actives and the emergence of fungal resistance, (iii) exhibits sufficient elasticity for use in flexible medical devices, and (iv) is suitable for 3D printing (3DP), enabling the production of safer, personalized medical devices.
