A simple resorcinol method to determine nitrate (NO) in seawater using a microplate reader with a 48-well plate was established. The method involved the nitration of resorcinol in sulfuric acid to form a pink product that was detected at 505 nm. Reagent concentrations were optimized, and the effect of salinity on NO determination was investigated. The detection limit of this method was 0.8 µM, while the upper limit of the linear range was 100 µM. The recoveries ranged from 91.5 to 109.7% for spiked seawater samples with different salinities. The proposed method was compared with two reference methods, and the results revealed a good correlation. Compared to conventional methods that require the preparation of reactants, the proposed method used aqueous solutions as reagents for the reaction, which was simpler and more convenient. Compared to the methods that used organic solvents for the direct determination of NO, the proposed method was suitable for estuarine and coastal water samples with large salinity variations. All results indicated that the proposed method can satisfy the requirements of laboratory analysis and demonstrate high application potential for use in field determination.

Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a semiconductor with a wide range of applications, and often the properties are modified by metal-ion doping. The distribution of dopant atoms within the ZnO crystal strongly affects the optical and magnetic properties, making it crucial to comprehend the structure down to the atomic level. Our study reveals the dopant structure and its contents in Eu-doped ZnO nanosponges with up to 20% Eu-O clusters.

The spiral generator, based on the principle of the electric field vector inversion, is capable of delivering repetitive high-voltage nanosecond pulses in the commercial portable pulsed x-ray source and gas switch trigger source. However, the spiral generator suffers from extremely low output efficiency, which significantly affects the compactness and accelerates the insulation film breakdown at electrode foil edges since the high charging voltage is required. A novel output efficiency improvement method for the spiral generator was proposed, implementing the permalloy film inside the passive layer to optimize internal voltage wave propagation processes during the pulser erection.

Gluing is a critical step in aircraft sealing assembly, with glue profile inspection serving as the final quality assurance measure to ensure consistency and accuracy of the sealant coating, allowing timely detection and correction of defects to maintain assembly integrity and safety. Currently, existing glue inspection systems are limited to basic inspection capabilities, lack result digitization, and exhibit low efficiency. This paper proposes a 3D inspection technology for sealant coating quality based on line-structured light, enabling automated and high-precision inspection of sealant thickness, sealant width, positional accuracy, and overlap joint sealant contour through geometric computation.

The human microbiota may influence the effectiveness of drug therapy by activating or inactivating the pharmacological properties of drugs. Computational methods have demonstrated their ability to screen reliable microbe-drug associations and uncover the mechanism by which drugs exert their functions. However, the previous prediction methods failed to completely exploit the neighborhood topologies of the microbe and drug entities and the diverse correlations between the microbe-drug entity pair and the other entities.

In this work, a hydrophilic Eu-based ratiometric fluorescent nanosensor (PAAC-Eu) was developed for Cu ion detection in aqueous solutions and imaging in living cells. The sensor was prepared a simple one-step reaction at room temperature, leveraging the synergistic coordination of commercially accessible polyacrylic acid (PAA) and coumarin-3-carboxylic acid (CCAH) with Eu ions. PAAC-Eu was easy to disperse in aqueous media and exhibited two characteristic emission bands at 406 nm and 618 nm, respectively, upon excitation at 350 nm.
